"Freemium" at its exorbitantly expensive worst. It is impossible to make progress without giving the publishers a great deal of money. It's not a bad game, but exorbitant costs are built into the game. If the price of "nano pods" were reduced by more than 90% the game might be worthwhile. But the money-grubbing lives a foul taste..

I don’t agree with Joe Porter’s comment on this game. I’ve been playing it for a little over 2 years and spending money on the game is optional. You can win the nanpods from boss strikes, invasions or holiday missions, you can watch ads on mobile device for nanos as well. Joining a guild would get you there faster however. This latest 4.5 update was very nice for old and new players. A few bugs but all the new stuff makes up for it and lots of free nanos.. lol The game itself is addicting and can be played at your own pace and you can either be laid back or competitive. The key to this game is patience and if you have nanos to spare then you can rush something. BattleNations Wiki and BattleNations Outpost can be very helpful at time too. http://battlenations.wikia.com http://www.bnoutpost.com

True. But the game is cleverly written with great graphics, a decent ai engine, a responsive staff and a huge number of long-time players who are willing to offer advice and help. The game is terribly addicting and huge amounts of fun. But. You have to decide for yourself how much you want to spend for entertainment. Compare this to other things you enjoy and see if kit's money well spent. FWIW - you can play and enjoy the game (mostly) and spend very little on nanopods. The game is played in real time. If you have the patience to wait 24 hours for a task to be fulfilled, or to accumulate the resources you need for repair (freely available from other players); your cash investment is minimal
