Replacement for the Application Switcher.

Overview

Vecte is a very simple app, designed as a replacment for the OS X application switcher.

Vecte is simply a replacement. All the standard keyboard shortcuts still work, the only difference is how it looks and feels. First of all, Vecte's window is up in the top-left corner of the screen, not in the way, in the middle of the screen. Second, Vecte switches apps instantly. It doesn't wait around until you let go of the Command key. Third, Vecte does not reorder the apps every time you switch to a new app. If you missed the app you were aiming for, it's still in the same spot. Just switch again!

Features

  • Faster. Vecte is far faster than the OS X switcher. Don't wait for the window to disappear before switching apps...
  • No setup. Simply open the Vecte app, and hit Command-Tab.
  • Simple. Vecte is very simple and out of the way. Don't worry about a thing.
  • No system resources. Vecte is exceptionally light weight, and will not affect your battery life.
  • More to come. Teak Software has big plans for Vecte, this is only the first version...

I like this a lot. My main request is to have an "exclude" function so that I can simply not have certain apps ever be involved with it. Although one can choose to have hidden apps not appear, sometimes I'd like to be able to switch back to them. In other words, just as with Apple's command-tab, keep them in the list but let them remain hidden. But unlike Apple's command-tab, let me keep some apps completely off the list no matter what.
