Untethered jailbreak for all iOS 7 devices.

Overview

evasi0n 7 is an untethered jailbreak for all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.6.

Instructions:

  • Backup your device using iTunes (or iCloud) before using evasi0n. If something breaks, you'll always be able to recover your data.
  • Those who use backup passwords in iTunes must disable them for now. After doing so, iTunes makes a brand new backup. Please wait for that backup to complete before proceeding! Feel free to re-enable your backup password after jailbreaking.
  • Please disable the lock passcode of your iOS device before using evasi0n. It can cause issues.
  • Launch evasi0n, plug in your device, and click "Jailbreak". Just sit back and observe its progress. Watch for any steps you may be asked to perform.
  • Avoid all iOS and iTunes related tasks until evasi0n is complete. Why not just enjoy a brief break from the computer to stretch your legs?
  • If the process gets stuck somewhere, it's safe to restart the program, reboot the device (if necessary by holding down Power and Home until it shuts down), and rerun the process.

What's new in evasi0n 7

Version 1.0.8:

Note: Although Finder indicates that this is version 1.0.0, the developer refers to it as version 1.0.8.

  • Support for 7.0_11A466 that shipped with some 5s and 5c iPhones

Please be careful using evasi0n v1.0.0!!! This initial release will break your weather app. While everyone is excited that an iOS 6 jailbreak is finally available, and while it does work, it does have that issue. The first time you restart your device after installing this jailbreak, the weather will no longer work. And on iPads, you will suddenly see the iPhone weather app icon that you aren't supposed to see. If you can hold off a tiny bit on jailbreaking I'd recommend holding off until the developers iron out this small kink.

Would this be considered a critical update? I am new to this and wondered if I would have any problems.

I wouldn't call it critical. If you experience any issues regarding not getting new updates on apps, I'd restore and re-jailbreak with 1.0.7 If you haven't experienced any problems yet, i'd hold out for now.

Everything is working pretty great and many of the old tweaks are getting updates for iOS 7 making jailbreaking worth it again. There are some instability/buggy issues, but that's to be expected. A very simple, one-click procedure to jailbreak and you're done. Just remember to back up your data before jailbreaking just in case something stupid happens. Also, just in case, make sure you have Find My iPhone turned off in case you have to go into Recovery mode. If something goes wrong with FMI turned on you won't be able to recover your phone.

This is **NOT** the same tool as evasi0n 1.x which was used to jailbreak iOS 6.x... In fact this is called evasi0n 7 1.0 which as the name suggests works only on iOS 7.0 upto 7.0.4 for the time being..This installs a **beta** version of Cydia that was not approved by saurik for mass iOS7 usage at the time this (Cydia) was compiled, since no jailbreak was available back when this took place. Things will eventually iron out, in the meantime I would suggest saving SHSH blobs with tools as TinyUmbrella and the likes and waiting for the main tools, such as Cydia, MobileSubstrate and all to get their updates before proceeding.. On a sidenote there appears to be some controversy over an "alternative" Cydia-style app that this installs in chinese-iDevices...I suppose it's up to anyone to comment or suggest, however I'd strongly suggest holding off until the dust settles..

v1.0.0 did not work with an iPad2 running 7.0.4. During reboot after a successful install got stuck on the Apple log/boot process. Kept rebooting back to the Apple logo. Restore to normal 7.0.4 was successful.

Chinese-filled, unreliable garbage. There a lot of problems with this and people are reporting all kinds of shady things with this "jailbreak". Like the Grinch, don't touch this iOS 7 jailbreak with a 39-and-a-half foot pole until further notice. The Chinese paid the evasi0n group a lot of money for this half-arsed jailbreak that's questionable at best. This may be the beginning of the end for evasi0n.

Also... "Cydia" is not Cydia... it's some freaky Chinese knock off and nothing works or is horrifically buggy or broken.

works perfect. Just Cydia is not on time, but the two most important pieces of software are available and among them the openssh

Most Apple devices are "Chinese-filled" -- what a silly thing to say. Show us some concrete proof of "shady things" and specifically what is "unreliable" and we may listen closer.

Liberty... you clearly did not even install this on your phone... nor did you bother to read up on this new jailbreak at all. What I saw after first jailbreaking was not a pleasant one. However, the issue with the Chinese oddities has been resolved: http://evasi0n.com/l.html The Chinese app "Taig" has been removed with the revised version... which is what was replacing Cydia and pissing off and confusing a lot of people... as well as Chinese splash screens were removed as well. The latest update to this jailbreak fixes a lot of the issues and I'm sure there's more fixes to come.

If you have problem using anything "Chinese", DON'T BUY APPLE PRODUCTS, PERIOD! They all made by Chinese labors, and shipped from China. What I really want to say is: Stop this anti-Chinese nonsense and get your anger direct at the right problem: American companies! Or in your case, a problem of typeface displayed incorrectly, a bug. Now... if you talking about "Chinese-like" gibberish characters that appears on your screen, that's probably not real Chinese anyway (I can read Chinese). In most cases, these characters appeared because the typeface is not coded correctly, or you installed something incomplete. It happens to me once in awhile on my computer too, so just try to reinstall the jailbreak again, or tell your problem to the developer. I can assure you, 99.99999% of the time , the problem you are experience has nothing to do with Chinese nor China! ~just calm down~
