The Fontz is a versatile font utility that allows you to browse your existing fonts, see what they look like at different type sizes, styles and colors, and even group them in like categories using a "WYSIWYG" group maker. For fast and easy browsing run either a manual or an automatic font slide show where you can change size, color, style, and even the display text while the slide show is still in progress. You can view or print out individual fonts, or any of your font groups.

I love this program. I really missed Font Gander under OS9. I've only found two programs that will let you preview uninstalled fonts under OS X, Linotype Font ExplorerX and The Fontz, and The Fontz does it much simpler without having to add them all to a font library. There are zillions of others out there that only let you preview installed fonts. That's like only being able to see the clothes you're wearing. This developer has simply and elegantly achieved what others could not. This essential in find the best fonts for a design. Still running 4.0 with the occasional crash. No big deal. I'm going to try 4.3.3 now.
Absolutely Outstanding Application.
In 2004 I had "damned it with paint praise." (see my old review below).
This version's User Interface has elegant simplicity without sacrificing features.
It does what you need it to do. The learning curve is non-existent.
It is worth DOUBLE the asking price !
Enjoy it.
The Fontz has come a long way since version 3.5.5. Improvements include a huge increase in display speed and more reliable uninstalled font recognition.
Looks like an 'okay' program. But i could never even get it to load all my fonts into the viewer without crashing.
Doesn't give the user a choice whether to immediately begin listing all installed fonts.
The tool pretty much does what it says, it lists the fonts on your system. However, it does not work with bit-mapped fonts, it just shows them in a generic typeface. For people with a lot of older bit-mapped fonts it would not be useful.
I'm using version 3.5.4 for OS X, and have found it to be great. I've been using it for several months, and I haven't experienced any complications, crashes, or conflicts.
I do a lot of logo design, and The Fontz is a great way for me to review the fonts I have installed on my machine. I can also review how any text that I type will appear, which is a great boon for logo design.
Note to "Sun": The OS X icon is from a previous version of The Fontz and I have no way of removing it from the macupdate page. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I tried The Fontz again and found it very stable now - this is a new version and improvements were made to my iMac. The program works very satisfactorily, when I wish to find the right fonts for a current project.
