The Archive Browser

1.11.2
30 August 2017

Browse and extract the contents of archives.

Overview

The Archive Browser is a program that lets you browse the contents of archives, as well as extract them. It will let you open files from inside archives, and lets you preview them using Quick Look.

It is based on The Unarchiver, which means it can handle a large number of different archive formats: It can handle common formats like Zip, RAR, 7-zip, Tar, Gzip and Bzip2, as well as older formats like StuffIt, DiskDoubler, LZH, ARJ and ARC. It can also handle other kinds of formats, like CD and DVD images such as ISO, BIN, MDF, NRG and CDI, many Windows self-extracting EXE files, and can even extract media from Flash SWF files. It will also handle different filename encodings gracefully.

For the curious, it will also show you a lot of information about the archives and their contents.

Since I don't want Apple to track me through purchases made at the Mac App Store I've sent an e-mail to the developer asking him to make alternative arrangements for people willing to pay more for a license. If anyone else is willing to pay EUR 10-15 or the equivalent in USD, please get in touch with the developer and urge him to make this possible.

Very nice application and well priced for what is does. I will however stick with Springy because it has the ability to add to the archives while this does not - Springy is significantly more expensive though. This application is aesthetically more pleasing, and more mac like, and if it ever offers the ability to add to archives, I may switch. Thumbs up for great software. Also I love "the unarchiver" - 5 stars - and it is my default extractor.

Google tracks your purchases made in Chrome to monetize you because it's services are free. Apple makes a profit from your purchase so there's no need or desire to track you.
