Version 1.5.2 still works a treat (though Get Info claims it is version 1.0) on Mac OS X 10.8.4. Native joypad support is built in - I'm currently using an old Logitech Precision without issue. In order to configure the controller you'll have to dig through some in-game menus after you've loaded into a slot.

There is one annoying bug for me - it doesn't seem to remember that fullscreen large display mode means I want it fullscreen and large the next time I run the game. It keeps switching back to 640x480 in the lower left corner with black filling the rest of the screen; I have to toggle the setting every time I start up in order to fix it.

I was pretty excited about this, but in the end it appears to have the same fatal flaw as all these fan-created labors of love seem to: atrocious level design. I dutifully trudged through the asinine and pointlessly meandering mazes in the village cave, but got disgusted and quit halfway through the first real dungeon when it became clear I'd have to push two blocks halfway across a freaking level in order to get to a chest. I appreciate the devotion of the devs and the time put into this, but you gotta have a little more respect for my time if you expect me to play it. The puzzle was far from clever enough to warrant such drudgery.

Strangely, this is a project that has existed for nearly 10 years.

Awesome game! But i've noticed that it tends to crash a bit, and it would be to the benefit of users if you could create an english version of the website

Yea, ignore my review below. Now that I've actually gotten though some of the game, the app kept closing on me. Now I can't even get it to open up.... Is this happening to anyone else?
But overall it is a pretty fun game. :)

Great idea! I've always been a fan of Zelda, and now it's on my computer. But one question, I have no idea what to do when you first start the game! The guy won't let me out of the house and someone is telling me to come here but I dont know where! HELP!

Very cool so far! Defaults to French, change in Options.

Second character outside next to the building left of the one you originate from explains the input HUD interface.

Have fun!

They're still working on this and hammering out bugs it looks like. I really appreciate the work and look forward to a nostalgic play through while imagining the game's code is sitting inside a golden plastic NES cartridge!

I've downloaded this app on both 10.7 and 10.6 with two different Mac, and both didn't work at all.
I got only the first window with the choice of language and nothing more.
