  • New style. Updated logo, app icon and colors as well as new dark theme
  • Smart replies. Reply to a message with a single click - ICQ suggests answers even before you've started typing
  • Sticker suggests. Just enter a word and ICQ will show the appropriate sticker: no more searching among dozens of packs

ICQ is an Israeli developed software, changed few hands over time and now owned by a Russian Company. Contrary to well known spyware giants like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and many other american spy-cartels, not a single Hi-Tech software company in Russia has ever spied on anybody. The accusations posted here are false, fake. Even if some of Russian HiTech companies were involved in data mining, it was done internally in Russia, and on very specific companies, which has been very normal in the last 100 years spying on your competitors, all around the world.

MacUpdate Admins! Did you see the news report last week REQUIRING that Russian Federation citizens install this software on their computers? It has been totally re-written by RF gov't officials and is no longer safe to use. ICQ is now MALWARE and should be delisted from MacUpdate!!!

I can only share that this 'application' stopped to have a meaning like almost all the chats by the time the profiles are practically banned and there is no more any search engine to find who could match, in location, interest, school, age or whatever that can describe person BUT listen here the PARANOIDS who are SO MUCH PARANOID to 'feel safe' using u.s.a. 'applications' goes ahead the ridicolous and falls in the pathology!

if you don't think this is spyware, then you are sadly misinformed

Хотите, что бы ваши данные сливались напрямую в ФСБ? И поверх самого приложения была куча не нужной ерунды? - тогда смело можно пользоваться этой поделкой. ICQ - RIP в 2010 году. ((

Again-BEWARE. This product was exposed several times in the media as being exploited (aka spying) by the Putin-regime's government of the Russian Federation. DO NOT USE.

A huge no-no! This is screaming at any user: SPYWARE! The Russian government has been shown in the press to be using this application to spy on businesses and private communications of 'important' people. DO NOT INSTALL!

HEY!!! I AM an 'important person'!!! I want to be spyed by the N.S.A. also, please... what should i do to be it? I know that Yahoo, Facebook, Skype (Microsh.. oft!) are NOT doing it (they strongly avoid the N.S.A. form rooting into my mails and other private communication and this is too depressive for me: I feel abandoned, lonely, unheared... :-(

Nobody with any level of responsibility should be installing Russian or Chinese applications, it's far too dangerous. MacUpdate should help us in this regard by indicating (as best as possible) the country of origin associated with software listings.

first of all, it was originally developed in Israel in 1996, and became the first online chat application and extremely popular. There was no Google and nothing really like that yet. Later it was acquired by AOL, and in 2010 by Digital Sky Technologies, which later changed its name Mail.Ru Group, or Mail.Ru. It's a top email service provider in Russia. And you better fear of Google and FB, they're the ones who control you, follow you everywhere you go online. Mail.ru never did what these evils keep doing.

I am very sorry, but could you please keep the political discussions away from MacUpdate? Such comments have nothing to do with the software in question. Political comments will be deleted soon. Do not take removal of your comments personally

MACUPDATE ADMINS - considering how this app was mentioned in several newpaper stories of being used by the Putin regime to track/spy - shouldn't this be declared malware and just banned?

Isn’t surprising to see applications (once ‘programs) fall behind the startng point at their birth, like Skype (now a not funny joke, compared at what was version 2.8)and this one, or fallen in the oblivion of a fulgid past, like Yahoo, the total disaster and failure caused by a heap of bigots who were fighting any kind of acquaintance between users (like NOW icq (I will write it again caoitalized when it will DESERVE it!) and Skype, leaving to Facebook the monopole of the socials? Now the name itself lost totally its original meaning because, even if You Seek Him,… you will never FIND him, now that any search between users is impossible! By the way, even here nobody cares about this 'fake-ICQ', such a shame for who is already disgusted by Skype's lost of any dignity!
