Screen Shade allows you to control the brightness of your screen. This customizable app allows you to place a shade over your screen to reduce the strain on your eyes. Screen Shade will reduce your Mac's brightness on demand, without any risk to your activities on your computer. Screen Shade was built specifically to save on energy consumption.
The simplicity of Screen Shade will make the app extremely easy to use. All the programming is hidden behind a simple light intensity slider or simple shortcut keys. Easy to use and extremely effective.
Ever have to work around people that for example are trying to sleep ( hotel room ) simply shade your screen and continue working without lighting up the room like a candle.

If this app "allows you to place a shade over your screen", so, how on earth can it "save on energy consumption" ?
And apart from this miraculous technical explanation (maybe it is not clearly formulated or I misunderstood it), why would anybody buy a 3rd party application if there are dedicated function keys for exactly this purpose on any Apple keyboard ???

This is handy and easy to use application. You can adjust the screen brightness with the help of little slider. Screen Shade is a good solution when you frequently use your mac in low-lighting situation. However this app is not necessary. Brightness feature in system preferences does almost the same job.
