Please correct your MU page which sez: "Fast indexed file search (free until January 1). Free". Actually it is $2.99 at AppStore. See good video at developer's website, lady with nice voice. I have happily depended on EasyFind for years, and never found it to miss any files, as several others have claimed. For $2.99, Toucan is easily worth a try. My stars rating I will correct later if possible, after I have used it a while. Main thing is for MU to correct the price info.

Please note that if you want to purchase Toucan Search that the developer has the following to say as a consequence of Apple's sandboxing requirements: Bottom line: sorry, Toucan won't be updated. It's unfortunate that Apple changed the rules a year after introducing the app store.

i bought Toucan Search and have generally been quite pleased with it. At $2.99, it's hard to find room to complain, and actually i was impressed at the level of configurability in the preferences. The old freeware Locator X used to be my mainstay search application for years (never could get used to Spotlight nor found it as fast or useful as a locate database search), so Toucan is filling in that gap for me now that PPC apps don't work in Lion/ML. Toucan is quick and usually has low resource overhead (except a few odd times when it spikes CPU usage and needs to be restarted). It's obviously young and needs some polishing (search within results is the most glaring omission), but it's eminently useful and a bargain at its price point. Recommended as the best non-Spotlight search solution on recent Mac OS versions.
