I received a quick reply today from Dmitry Nikolaev, the developer of Numeric Note. He wrote me that the keys to use for computations with percentages are these:

Use the key for division
Use the key for multiplication

I thanked him, and replied that he should include that information in his online HELP file.

MacUpdate, your system DELETED the keys I indicated for doing division and multiplication with Numeric Notes.

I'll try again:

Use the / key for division
Use the * key for multiplication

Today, I purchased Number Notes 2.0.5.

Below, is the content of the e-mail I sent to support@numericnotesapp.com, after exploring the use of this app:

Hello,
Today, I purchased Numeric Notes 2.0.5 (for Mac) from MacUpdate.
It's a good little app. Very useful, and easy to use . . . except for the following,
which I have copied from your Numeric Notes online HELP:

EXPANDED COMPUTATIONS WITH PERCENTAGES

Aside from simple addition and subtraction of percentages, you can also use two more functions.

To calculate 100% of a value, if only part of it is known, divide by the percentage:

25÷10% → 250 25 — is 10% of the value.

To calculate a percentage of a value, multiply by a percentage:

25×10% → 2,5 Find 10% of 25.

=====
I have been unable to make any sense of how to use percentage calculations in Numeric Notes.
What is in your online HELP (above) is not helpful. It is not clear how it works.

First, I suggest that you re-write the sentence, "To calculate 100% of a value, if only part of it is known, divide by the percentage:"
The sentence is confusing.

Second, I suggest that you provide a clearer description of how to use the computations with percentages.

Best wishes,
David Purnell (in Minnesota, USA)

It's not like your old calculator. It's much (much) better. Recalculations in this program - most wonderful feature ever. Thanks!

First, it really magically how the calculations works. It's like an editor with autoformating turned on. The greates thing (for me) it's about recalculations. I'ts as simple as correct sentence or misspelled letter. And then new results come up. Good work. Thank you!

I just think about this app as cheap replacement to Invoice application. It works beautifully, and do what it describes.

I really enjoy the way application handle calculations. You can mix any text as within calculations, as titles. The only thing that annoy me is absence of iPhone version, so I could be in touch with all calculations all the day. Hope this will be realized.

Macupdate: is this the correct link? Is it possible for you to inform the developer of this unfortunate mishap?

Ah, it seems the current URL on MacUpdate (posted above) is wrong. Actual link should be: http://numericnotesapp.com/
