Terrible set of fonts. Approximately one third are horrific cursive/calligraphic style fonts that all look exactly like the Windows 3.1 cursive font, and another third are ca. 1983 super-HIGH/TECH/COMPUTER-CYBERPUNK fonts that look like they belong at the bottom of a check. The remaining third are similarly intolerable "whimsical" fonts that would be suitable for nothing other than printing a sign marking the entrance to a tiki hut-themed chain restaurant. Not only would I strongly encourage you NOT to spent money on these fonts, I would encourage you to save 45 seconds of your life by not even looking at the font book; I would give anything to have those 45 seconds back.

MacFonts is garbage and not worth even a fraction of $40. There's a core set of no-name knockoff fonts that are then expanded, condensed and obliqued to add countless useless variations. It is a total waste of time and money. Check out the specials at http://www.myfonts.com/specials/ to get some real bargains. Some of their font families are up to 90% off.

Great App! If you want to bulk up your font collection then this app is for you. The Price:Font ratio is more than correct and of course all fonts are not perfect and compared to Adobe Font Folio 11.1 the quality is not the same. I was myself going for Adobe Font Folio, but then my eyes got swollen from the $2,999. Conclusion: the app is a great step into commercial-purpose fonts, just above free ones and below high-standard collections which can be really pricey.

Having seen these collections at the Apple store, I thought for the low cost, it might yield a few offbeat fonts that would come in handy someday. BOY, WAS I WRONG. This is the worst, most useless, most amateur collection of fonts I have ever seen in my almost 30 years of professional publishing experience. It goes beyond knock-offs into a whole new realm. Every single font looks like the awkward, slapdash, free-form work of one single designer, and I use the term loosely. It is unimaginable to me that any company put their name on this execrable, value-less, depressing assemblage of digital garbage. Anyone considering buying this crap would be well-served to explore the abundant talents of open-source enthusiasts (like League of Movable Type), the promotions of legitimate font foundries, and other low-cost and free offerings available on Font Squirrel, daFont, and Smashing Magazine. Also look for low-cost and free offerings on MyFonts.com. There are some terrific fonts out there.

This MacFonts collection showed up in my account as having been downloaded by me. I did not download it, nor did I mean to review it; that happened by accident when I clicked on it.

Thanks for the bonus! However, my download doesn't seem to contain the "FontManager Pro" software that was supposed to be included according to the help manuals. Is there somewhere I can download it separately?

Thanks for another nice bundle! (My third). I'm saving it to download to the new mac I'll be getting in a couple of weeks and I'm eager to try most of the apps. So I haven't installed any of the fonts yet but there is a preview of a few of them on the macware site, plus there is a font guide you can look at or download to view them. Some of them are quite nice and I'm not sure why so many unkind comments, esp about a freebie. I downloaded the concordia font from the homepage, thank you, macwareinc. I am also trying to download the other small free font package you mentioned here but I keep getting the message: "an error has occurred, please try again" and I don't know why. That's all it says. ???

As a stingy font junkie, I do a fair amount of trolling for free fonts, and these seem to be about that quality on average. Even to my untrained eye, many of them are pretty ugly: bad kerning, wildly inconsistent and nonsensical line weights, other things I can't put my finger on because I'm not a designer. I'm satisfied with having gotten them for free, and I may use some of them for IRC or IM just to mix things up on my screen, but I wouldn't have paid $40, and I don't think I'd use any of them for anything intended for other people's eyes.

An eclectic collection of some of the most unattractive and ill-conceived fonts ever sold as a package. These are the kind of fonts you would except to discover after having installed some cheap design software and immediate remove them from your system. The collection contains around 300 actual font families, most falling within the either Techo or Script genres. Some appear to be original designs, while others are poorly done variations of classic fonts. Each family is padded out with unnecessary extra weights, most of which are artificial derivations of the main weight. Some families appear to include large glyph sets beyond the traditional Latin, however these extra glyphs must have also been created automatically, and contain either no diacritics or poorly positioned elements. As a promo freebie, you might find a few diamond in the rough. As a $40 commercial product, look elsewhere.

Like nanoose, I do not use social networks such as Facebook, nor do I tweet. So let's be honest here, this is NOT a MacUpdate bonus, it is a blatant effort to get people to sign up for Facebook and/or Twitter. It is also also an exclusionary act, in that people who don't face or tweet can't take advantage of this "free bonus" I expect a reply from the lawyers for the marketing company who is promoting this fraud, and so does nanoose.

I have to admit, these fonts, while technically usable, are essentially unusable from an artistic point of view. The letter forms are awkward and juvenile at best and simply awful at worst. There are a few nice scripts but other than those I would be hard pressed to use them in any design.

Hmmm, these fonts I will not use. Many of those like very similar, with some very small changes. A waste of money (happy that I did not pay any $ for this package, I got it as a bonus in combination with the promo bundle).

Glad I read the comments of MacWare Dev. And even the negative opinions of some of the others are good to keep a balance as well. We need them too! So often we download applications before finding out the end results. I like to get creative with fonts in my emails to friends and associates but along the way have discovered that the way I see them on my outgoing mail is not necessarily the way they are seen by the receiver. 2 questions: 1. I use the MacMail system version 2.1.3 and send an email to an AOL user who receives it and the font is not only different but much smaller in size. Why does this happen? 2. Is there any way to correct this?

I have this package and am using some of the fonts daily. To this I have more than 350.000 fonts installed - all managed by Linotyhpe Fontexplorer for Mac OS Xwhere it's easy to enable/disable fonts when needed. The only reason that I don't give it a clean '5' is that I miss that some of the fonts could be made in a semi-bold version which would make them near a complete collection.
