What's new in ConceptDraw DIAGRAM

Version 13 . 0 . 1 . 305:

Note: Download listed here will provide you with ConceptDraw Store app that you could use to install ConceptDraw DIAGRAM

  • Crop Tool. The new cropping tool is available for raster images you inserted into a document. You can use the cropping tool to trim or remove unwanted parts of images inserted from files, or copy-pasted from another application.
  • Import and Export of GIF Animation. Make an animated GIF from a dynamic presentation generated using ConceptDraw DIAGRAM presentation mode. Embed the GIF animation into your drawing using the new Import capabilities.
  • Connectors Improvements. You can make a part of the connector invisible. it is possible to create connectors that do not have a visible connection to the objects by adding two-sided margins (Fields), or one-sided indents (Path). The part of the connector becomes invisible, but it will still be glued to connection points on objects. The ability to visually “break” the connection line is created using smart or direct connectors: if the connection path intersects with the center of the inserted object
  • Solutions Panel Improvements. The new filters added to the Solutions panel will help you quickly find the exact solution that is most helpful for your tasks.
  • Support of Dark Mode on the macOS.

Thanks to a desktop ConceptDraw DIAGRAM app, I am sure that my data is safe. The recent version 13 is pretty much enhanced with a crop tool and GIG import/export. However, I feel the lack of an online sharing feature sometimes. So, I'm giving their ConceptDraw BOOKS service a try.

Excited to use this sf as an alternative to MS Visio on Mac as I haven't experienced any issues when importing native Visio files to ConceptDraw PRO v11.1.1. Downloaded the application to trial and found out there were so many more useful templates and ready-made objects to install for free.

Just word of caution from first hand experience: Visio compatibility is hit and miss. IF that is important to you, definitely try the Trial first. If you are in a enterprise environment where you can not risk issues exchanging with Office Visio users, you are probably better off (and more peace of mind) using Visio in a Windows virtual machine that depending on file compatibility with Concept Draw.

Be aware that upgrading from ConceptDraw 9 to 10 requires downloading a new version of the "Solution Browser" control panel for the application. Because of design flaws in that new panel, ConceptDraw will not recognize any of the previously installed software templates (the "solution park") and you will need to download and reinstall everything. This is a long process , since there are close to 140 total templates, each of which is packaged as a separate download and installation. Set aside a few hours for this process. It is not simple.

Checked out ConceptDraw this morning. A couple of observations 1) It appears to be quite powerful 2) They offer different packages relating to different needs 3) As a non-tech ancient person I'm somewhat figured it out, it seems not complex 4) It gets a 4 Mouse rating from MacWorld. 5) It can work with Visio

I agree with Espiridion, previous conceptdraw was clumsy and buggy but the laltest release is absolutely fantastic! it is quiet stable application with hundreds of templates for everything. i use conceptdraw office 2 it has now an integration between mindmaps and diagrams, so that i can make a chart from any map. they call it solution park, where you can find sample images and videos of what you can do with conceptdraw. I give it a strong 5, thanks guys for a good job!

Let me start by saying that I hated ConceptDraw products when I tried them many years ago. More recently I tried ConceptDraw MindMap, after being disappointed by NovaMind's pricing and XMind's direction. I also tried ConceptDraw Office. ConceptDraw PROJECT was the only program that I found a bit disappointing, but it was evident that the quality of their software had vastly improved since the last time I had tried it. Just like they did with MindMap, ConceptDraw offered a previous version of ConceptDraw Pro for free. I have not used it that much yet, but given the previous reviews it is important to clarify some issues and give potential users a different perspective. I'm using version 7.6 and there's an auto save option under preferences. So far, I have not experienced a single crash. Macworld UK gave the program 5 stars and it's an Editors' Choice. MacCompanion have it 4.5 stars. Yesterday I created a document using OmniGraffle Pro 4. I've used OmniGraffle probably since it came out, and always upgraded, but the upgrade to version 5 seemed too expensive for what it offered. Today I decided to try ConceptDraw Pro for this particular document, and I'm very happy with the results. Some things were not as intuitive as with OmniGraffle, but I don't mind spending some time reading the Manual or the Help. Formatting the final document was faster in ConceptDraw Pro, and the end result was much nicer. For me it was hard to believe. ConceptDraw's software has definitely improved in the past few years. ConceptDraw Pro includes a wide variety of very useful Templates, including science, engineering, landscaping, management, and many others. I plan to eventually upgrade to ConceptDraw Office which includes newer versions of the applications I have, but I'll wait until the next release since I was not thrilled with their Project Management application. Merlin 2 or FastTrack Schedule are still the ones I would choose for that purpose. For people interested in this type of software, I recommend that you try their demo and then decide. So far it has worked great for me.

It is exceedingly difficult do test a new program if is so unstable that it won't run long enough to try it out. Crash, Crash, the Crash. Very nice. If crashing counts, this is the app for you!

I bought it thinking to replace Visio. It is much harder to work with this one, constantly crashing, not saving automatically. Wasted money and tons of time this software. The conversion between visio and ConceptDraw is not accurate, constantly leading to crash. Tried on both Mac and PC, not happy at all!

UPDATE ON REVIEW: Customer service did contact me and wanted to fix the situation by having me install the latest release of the application; however, I had already moved on to using another application. Thankfully, they did grant me a full refund.

I purchased ConceptDraw last week. I spent hours working on my first file. The application started responding very slowly, so I saved my file and quit the application. When I tried to re-open the file, the application unexpectedly quit and continued to unexpectedly quit everytime I attempted to open the file. Hours of work...gone. I contacted their customer service and technical support. Never heard from customer service. Technical support wanted me to send them the file, but it contains confidential information, so I wasn't comfortable with that request. My requests for a refund have gone unanswered. I've had to file a claim with my credit card company. In the meantime, I've purchased OmniGraffle which is getting the job done just fine (and for much much cheaper). Maybe my experience was a fluke, but my advice would be to stay away from something this unstable - especially when their customer service is so lacking.

I'm using it and I love it! It's possible to do almost everything I want with it: UML and workflow diagrams... There are lots of libraries with templates that make my work easier. I even tried writing CD basic script for creating a traffic diagrams. It worked great. Further more it`s possible to connect to any ODBC-compartible database and use it just from conceptdraw. There are a lot of features: pre-defined styles, smart library objects, background pages, layers, and easy-to-understand interface. I advise it as a really professional tool!

Unusable slow on a G4/1GHz with 1GB RAM when drawing network equipment and network plans. Though this version didn't crash often like all previous version did, I still can't recommend it. Waiting over 20 sec. for a redraw while moving shapes is just inaceptable (90% CPU). Mouse often "caches" moving so your shape won't be where you droped it. Missing some basic shapes and better ancor-points; inconsistent shape-handling (newer and older ones). Make it 500% faster and I will buy an upgrade.

How do you review a program that has had such a tremendous leap from the previous version? It tough, but this program is worth serious consideration for the professional user and college student. First, they need to be commended for making so many changes that listing each change would be to hard to do in such a short review. Second, this is an expensive program and the casual user need not apply. If you are a college student they do have student pricing. Issues: This programs encompasses a great deal and therein lies a potential problem if you need to jump right in and learn all it functions. The best way to start is through copying an example. The learning curve can be steep as they have mixed graphical concepts with analytical concepts and are not one hundred percent with either--it can be both a serious finite tool of loosely used for concepts. Again, you will need to spend time in learning just how you will use it. There are no training videos that I know of and anyone wishing to make one would provide a great service to potential users of ConceptDraw V. There is NO spell checker and I find this unacceptable for a program of such breath and cost. You can use programs like Spell Catcher X and Grammarian Pro X, but you really should not have to do this extra step. Handing of text formatting can sometimes lead to odd behavior as you shift pre-made call-outs around from their leader. I find this discerning and graphically odd. Bottom-line: I do think for what it represents and if you use the program substantially that the price is warranted. I am very glad to see programs like this entering the Mac Community and welcome them with open arms as a business professional as this is only way that Apple will lure away those still using Windows.

No. This software lived on my machine for 10 minutes and ran into too many glitches for it to be taken seriously. Works like a Windows app. Not intuitive at all. Too many features thrown into the UI.

ConceptDraw is excellent, cross-platform technical drawing program with many cool features. I've used it about 2 years. I'm a project manager and I do with it everything: my workflow, UML diagrams, any helpful flowcharts, my home plan and even stickers with alphabet symbols for my son! Now I've got the new version 5.003. And it's the most powerful drawing/diagramming software I've ever seen! It better than Graffle and even Visio on PC! I haven't met any serious problems at all. Once I've got a crash after 2 ours work. But after reload I've been able to recover my work from auto backup. It's truly an amazing application. Congratulations for great work!

Absolutely horrid update...Older files don't import properly and they open VERY slooooowly, the program runs very slow overall, multiline text overlaps and has to be deleted and reentered, toolbars don't move properly (they don't follow the cursor, they stay where they are and then "pop" to where you let the mouse go) and after several toolbar moves, the program crashes. Some of this I reported during the beta test and it wasn't addressed in the release...as far as I'm concerned, this is still in beta...a beta that I paid for!!! Useless upgrade...save your $$$!!!

I struggled with Microsoft Visio, which appears to be very set in its ways of doing things. By contrast, CDPro is a delight to use, and very flexible. Its cross-platform capability is fantastic, too. And the authors, CS Odessa, are very responsive, very helpful, and very fair. I can't recommend this software highly enough for structured graphical work. Thank you CS Odessa.

Very well-developed program with the basics in drawing although it does require a few more extras that Visio has--including the development of timelines. It has worked well so far in organization charts in the criminal justice class that I am taking, and I am impressed with its intuitiveness and easiness of use. This program is a must-have for those going into the criminal justice program, business, etc.

Now I have discovered this product I can scrap the virtualPC/visio combination. It is an excellent product filling in a conspicuous gap in the mac market. Also it is cross platform!
