1.9.4

Synchronize or backup between Macs.

Overview

ChronoAgent is a silent background utility that allows a Mac to accept secure connections from ChronoSync and InterConneX for file transfers, folder synchronization or backups. You can access a ChronoAgent-enabled Mac over your local network or even across the country via the Internet. Connections are fast, secure, and optionally encrypted so you can get the most out of ChronoSync and InterConneX.

With ChronoSync, you can use your ChronoAgent-enabled Mac for remote backups and folder synchronization. With InterConneX, you can browse folders on your ChronoAgent-enabled Mac, display files from the remote Mac, and even pull files to your iDevice, if needed.

What's new in ChronoAgent

Version 1.9.4:
Enhancements/Miscellaneous:
  • Improved shell task execution reliability to better handle errors and exceptions.
Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed a long-standing bug whereby the results of running external commands and tasks could be misinterpreted because of failing to read the entire output/result from running that command affecting operations such as mounting Disk Images or Blessing bootable backup targets.
  • Fixed a Catalina-specific bug whereby file system observers would fail to detect deep file system changes if the root folder being modified resided on your boot system's 'Data' volume causing live triggered syncs not to run after deep file system changes were made.

The •combination• of ChronoAgent + ChronoSync is absolutely the best working system for backups and bi-directional syncing that I've found in my three decades of using Macs. The duo enable a smart-scan feature which performs incredibly fast. If you haven't tried running both together [i.e., with agents on target Macs], I highly recommend it. Great job, Econ Technologies! -HI-

Bad link, leads to some kind of fake spam/adware crap. Here's the real link; http://downloads.econtechnologies.com/CA_Mac_Download.dmg

just installed CA 1.5.2 on a Mavericks system. system was already running 1.5. Everything appeared fine, continued to use the system, even rebooted several times. Went to sync and the other system running Chronosync could not find this system running CA. On the CA system, clicked on the CA icon in the menu bar, and it was grayed out, with the message 'incompatible version', even though this version supports Mavericks. Only after launching System Preferences, selecting the CA preferences AND THEN selecting the 'Status' tab, after about a minute of "thinking', only then did CA enable itself and turn on. Previous updates didn't have this issue, after updating it would restart the service and ready to go. Also as I mentioned, from the time I installed the 1.5.2 I had rebooted the system at least twice (for unrelated reasons), so any resetting that CA needed to do should have been done. Anyway, this is just a FYI to anyone upgrading, not a criticism. I've been a user of ChronoSync since version 1 and user from CA from the start, couldn't live without them now.

Hmmm, this sounds like some weird system anomaly. ChronoAgent can behave like that if there are certain kinds of network configuration changes that take place. Hopefully it’s all sorted out for you, but if there is any hint of the problem returning, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us (support@econtechnologies.com), and we’ll get to the bottom of it!

Here's why I use ChronoAgent + ChronoSync: my Projects folder, which contains mainly web app development stuff, takes 06:21 to backup to my Mac Mini server using built-in file sharing. Connecting with ChronoAgent, however, it takes 37 seconds! (I just ran a test, hence the hard numbers) I could literally schedule it to run once every minute (but I don't). It used to take about 2 1/2 minutes (still much better than file sharing). These changes to ChronoSync & ChronoAgent over the past couple months are incredible!

I use ChronoAgent to back up files to my Mac Mini, and it works flawlessly. Earlier versions sometimes wouldn't connect, which I gather was an issue with OS X, but since version 1.5.1 of ChronoAgent and 10.10.3 of OS X, I have had no problems. At $10 (I must have bought it on sale or something, as I see the price is now $15) it's been a great addition to ChronoSync.

Odd, version 1.4.6 was released in April 2014, which I downloaded and installed back in April, so why is it coming up on MacUpdate that 1.4.6 was released today Sept 29? Was this just to push it back up to the top of the recent list?

We were updating/amending the current ChronoAgent page (new description/new screenshot) and, for some reason, MacUpdate flagged it as an update. Look for a REAL update coming soon.

Why didn't I buy ChronoAgent sooner! Wow, it really makes syncing much easier and faster. Setup was easy too. Best $10 I've spent in a long time. Thanks.
