MacZFS overview

MacZFS is free data storage and protection software for all Mac OS users. It's for people who have Mac OS, who have any data, and who really like their data. Whether on a single-drive laptop or on a massive server, it'll store your petabytes with ragingly redundant RAID reliability, and it'll keep the bit-rotted bleeps and bloops out of your iTunes library.

The completely free MacZFS provides absolutely all functionality, speed, and data integrity guarantee which are needed for personal and small enterprise use. We believe it to be one of the most advanced storage solutions for most Mac OS users, at any price.

Looks like the development of Maczfs has been abandoned.
I've tried OpenZFS instead.
Looks like the only advantage of MacZFS would be to run on older systems such as PPC...

OpenZFSonOSX.org really supersedes this now and this should be following the current progress there. Here is the changelog: https://openzfsonosx.org/wiki/Downloads Current release is 1.3 and it does work on 10.10 developer and public previews.

FYI, this is only an update for Mountain Lion installation - the code base is the same as 74.1.0 otherwise. If you don't have Mountain Lion, you don't need to install this.

It's a giant shame that ZFS never made it into OS X. ZFS is wildly superior to HFS+. Because I can't use MacZFS to create bootable partitions, or partitions supporting Spotlight, it doesn't make much sense for me to install it. But for bulk storage of data, especially spanning multiple volumes, this is a great solution. Eventually, Apple will *have to* phase out HFS+. Maybe by then, they'll have so much money they can just get Oracle to sell them the rights to ZFS. A man can dream.
