Graph

12.9.5
14 March 2019

You give it data and it gives you a graph.

Overview

Graph is designed with one thing in mind: "You give it data and it gives you a graph." Other things like saving, retrieving, printing, help and exploration are designed to be straightforward, unobtrusive and as automatic as possible. Data is pasted from the pasteboard, fetched from Web servers or the file system and inserted and edited using a table interface. Click-drag graphs to rotate and scan data. Click and hover over data to show their values. Thousands of graphic, graph and data attributes, including artwork, maps, autoscaling and many effects can be set by applying a skin made with Vvidget Builder (an optional Mac OS X desktop application). Data and preferences are organized by project and each project is persistent and automatically saved so you can show and retrieve your settings and data on subsequent use. Includes several 1D, 2D and 3D graph types such as bar, column, pie, line, area, scatter, 3D perspective scatter, trajectory and surface, volumetric, z-sliced cell, linear, semi-log, x-log, log-log, polar, r-log and many variations.

Note: See www.vvidget.org/graph for a movie on making Bubble Graphs and how to use the Graph application.

What's new in Graph

Version 12.9.5:
  • Tables load faster and show textual data much faster
  • All graphics are further optimized so that drawing and transitioning to different graph representations is much faster. However, twice the "blink of an eye" is still a "blink of an eye"
  • General bug fixes

congratulations, VVI (developer) !! i was highly interested in this app but ignored it since it was on the app store only. if there is an upcoming move to provide apps again from dev's web sites, than you are one of the pioneers; seen that Apple offers their latest operating system os x 10.6.7 from MacUpdate, whereas tiny tools are available from the app store only, is a piece of insanity which provokes anger and abstinence on all sides. i did noit agree with this policy and decided for a boycott of such apps and tools.

A great program. Don't let the first screen shot fool you, the output available is actually very impressive. I just wish there was more control over colours, line types etc.

The Mac App Store edition of this now requires 10.7 Lion. Please link back to the General edition found in their website which works for both 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.7 Lion.

x86tech- Thank you, I submitted that change. To reiterate: The edition on the Mac App Store is sandboxed and is designed for Mac OS X version 10.7.3 and above. The General Release Edition at http://www.vvidget.org/download is designed for Mac OS X 10.6 and above. We are working on Graph version 10.7.8 at this time. Please send any errata or improvement suggestions to support@vvi.com

Celm- Perhaps you clicked the banner at the bottom of the window (as shown in the screenshots for the Graph app) and it brought up a sheet informing you about VVI services and products? You can click the ESC key or click the Done button to dismiss any sheet. The Graph app is free and has ads regarding only VVI services and products and some helpful hints on features and the like. In addition, the "Vvidget" app (available on the Mac App Store) is the same as the Graph app, is not free and does not have ads. This is all very well explained on the Mac App Store description. Please email support@vvi.com with a screenshot of what you are seeing and how you got it so that I can further understand your situation.

Celm- The banner is the bottom 40 pixels of the window and redisplays with a new banner every 10 seconds. That is the only banner animation that is performed. The intent is not to make the app dysfunctional. Please email support@vvi.com so that I can try to understand the flashing aspect. This is the first report of such an issue. As stated the Vvidget app ($7.99 at present) does not have a banner. If you have further input then please email support@vvi.com so that we may begin to address the issues. I am sorry for your trouble and any misunderstanding.

It says 10.6.6 or later but the downloads say 10.7.0 or later. Is there a Snow Leopard version?

The Mac App Store Edition is for Lion only. There is a v10.6.14 version for Snow Leopard at: http://www.vvidget.org/download Our development efforts are now totally focused on Lion, and the Snow Leopard development efforts have wound down. Thus any bug fixes or feature improvements will be for the Lion-only version.

The previous reply is obsolete. Due to customer feedback, Graph now supports Snow Leopard and Lion and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store or the http://www.vvidget.org/download link.

Personally I know many people get on their high house about the information gathered by companies while surfing or visiting sites. But face the simple fact business needs to know what people like and what they want so they can continue to develop the software and application you all want. In other words by allowing the companies to monitor your usage you are helping to build the very things you want. The only time people are concerned about been watched is when they are doing something wrong in any sense of the word, be it down loading music or films without paying or hacked software etc. If what your doing is legal what dose it matter if apple know you have down loaded a pice of software to your computer and have six other bits of software on it that are all games. So stop worrying about this innovation of what you are doing at the end of the day your ISP already know what your up-to so you have lost the fight before you hit a website

Russed, you said: "The only time people are concerned about been watched is when they are doing something wrong in any sense of the word." That is a very short-sighted statement. Contrary to what you state, there are a number of very valid, justifiable and necessary reasons for people to want to protect their online privacy. What about political dissidents who may be persecuted, imprisoned or even killed by their oppressive governments? What about whistle-blowers who expose corruption in Big Business and Government and need protection? What about victims of rape, incest, child abuse, etc.? These are just a few examples. If you prefer a Big Brother surveillance society, that is your choice, but the rest of us enjoy, prefer and demand our right to online privacy, at least what very little remains of it. Please check out this link: http://www.endtimeprophecy.net/Blog/2011/09/10/adios-online-anonymity-internet-giants-begin-the-big-squeeze/ Thanks!

Fail to see what this review has to do with the app at all. Regardless, it seems like some apologetic attempt to justify something in mangled English, but what? BTW it's a "high HORSE", not house... mV22

I was also interested and am also not yet willing to register at and use the Apple App Store. In my opinion, to be really free, free software must be freely available. It's not just about the price; privacy also matters.

We have found that users like to download at both the Vvidget site and the Mac App Store at their own preference. Graph is available at the Mac App Store and at this URL: http://www.vvidget.org/download We can not neglect either type of user hence provide both means. I highly recommended that you also email support@vvi.com when you have interest to do so as we are very actively seeking participation and help understanding your needs.
