The best screen tool I've ever used on a Mac. This should be part of OS X. I support a mixed environment of PC's and Mac, and Windows screen sizing features are so much better than OS X. This application bridges that gap!

BetterSnapTool 1.6.1. I have configured a shortcut that is supposed to set the position of only the front window of iBooks. However, it moves the front window of ANY app that is open. I have asked for help with this problem several times and so far have not received any reply. Has the developer closed down all support?

This app is *wonderful* I have tried just about every window management/window snap tool available, and this is one of the very best. Not only that, it is also one of the cheapest! Previously I used Flexiglass, which costs $10 and does far less than BetterSnapTool (BST). I have also tried Spectacle, which is free, and that is a good tool - but BST just does a lot more. The basic window snapping functionality works perfectly, with a great range of configurable shortcuts. I also really like the popup menu that can be put on a shortcut, meaning you can get access to all the window snapping options without assigning every one to a shortcut. The new Snap Area feature is also very clever and useful. I particularly like the ability to override the window title buttons (red/yellow/green) - a feature I have seen only in BST and Flexiglass, and BST does it far better: with a long list of possible actions that can be assigned to either the right mouse button or middle mouse button, on any of the three buttons. So in total you have 6 different actions that can be assigned, which is very useful. The only bad thing I found in BST is that it does not automatically remind the user to add it to Security & Privacy -> Accessibility. It really needs to do this, as otherwise it can be confusing as to why the app does nothing. For $2 this app is an absolute no-brainer - it does far more than many apps that cost 5 times that price!

As others have said, this app quickly becomes indispensable. Simple, stable, and oh, so handy. Just being able to quickly resize and move windows to the corners of one's screen is worth the price of admission.

I use this so frequently I've almost forgotten it isn't an integral part of the OS X GUI - it should be. It's just so easy to set up two or more windows in convenient positions on the screen to switch from one to another, to click back to full screen mode or whatever. Very versatile yet very simple. I'd be happy to pay significantly more for such a useful app.

It's efficient, rather simple to use, offers decent customization options, but has a few small bugs. For the price, this app can't be beat. It's easy to use and once you get used to it, something you'll use often. Two small observations though... It constantly forgets the custom snap areas I've set up, which is a huge pain. And it would be better if we could type in numbers for the the customizations (border-width, rounded corners, etc.) rather than having to fidget with sliders, which never seem to land on the number I want.

After trying tons of other window managers like Clinch, Glitch or whatever that name is, Plexiglass, BetterTouchTool, Moom, Divvy, SizeUp, etc etc... I came across this app. And its wonderful because it lets me control snap recognition areas — which is SO great when you are using multiple desktops/monitors aka "Spaces", the speed of the animation (or just turn that off completely), corner radius of the resized window preview, the delay before snapping, border width, border and background colors of preview window... LOVE IT!!! You can also set its behaviour: normal app, menu bar item of faceless. I prefer using my mouse/wacom pen instead of pressing a few keyboard shortcuts. Moom is also great though, but I only like the green resize button alteration in Finder windows.

This is the best software for those of us who like to move and resize windows. With a few tweaks to settings you can instantly put things where you want them including move to another screen. Question, it's a little glitchy in my yosemite beta. Any chance of upgrading?

There are several good apps like this out there & this is possibly the best, or one of the best available to date. I tried it though I own others that do very close to this. For a decent price, you are getting features for which other similar apps charge extra. Out of the box, there are several useful default choices, but you can customize your own. You can indicate configurable drop zones, small hotspots on your desktop into which you drag open windows & BetterSnap places them exactly where you want them & what size. You can set those drop zones up for only certain apps, so that they aren’t getting in your way when another application is active. Other apps have done this, Cinch for example, & may have been the basis of a similar feature MS put into into Windows 7. BetterSnap is worth a try & its worth a buck or two to the developer for a job well done, even if you conclude its not for you at the end of it all. The drop zones work & are reasonably unobtrusive, still there’s a tiny bit more work to do there. I’m not sure about its stability yet, as I’ve seen a few odd minor glitches after installing this, but can’t say that its tied to BetterSnap.

Not sure a BestSnapTool could be any better! One of my favorite utilities and fairly priced too. Set up takes some time, and haven't tried it with multiple monitors yet. Works great on my main screen though!

At first you will use BetterSnap Tool once in a while. After a few weeks you will find it quite useful and after a longer period, not having it is just not an option. The new customizable snap areas give you the ability to create specific size and position for your windows. A truly smart addition to an already great software.

Tried it, bought it straightaway Simple to use, more advanced features (requiring shortcuts etc) are available but NOT required for basic use. I've tried some of the alternatives, but was overwhelmed by 'customization' features etc that I didn't need all the time. Price is right, especially when bought on the App Store, as that gives 5 licenses for the price of one :)

I've tried just about every window snapping app, in my opinion this is the best of the bunch. Very tweakable: it has a preference to increase the "snapping recognition areas" which is perfect for multiple monitor setups. It seems like the developer has thought of just about everything.

Simple operation, great customization options. Works like a charm and worth every penny (and cheaper than the cup of coffee I bought while checking it out).

Dear everyone: you're supposed to be rating the app. If you don't like the App Store's lack of a demo feature, complain to Apple.

It's a cheap buy from the App Store, and it won't disappoint! An amazing Window Management tool. It's a shame that people are rating it down because it has no trial version. To the developer: Make a trial version with time limit, and make it available on your website, you have nothing to lose if you do that!

Two reasons why I will not purchase this application. 1. No demo to test and see if it works ok. 2. I do not like and will not purchase from the app store. I only give it a star rating because I can't submit without it.

True... I was just looking at "DoublePane".. but now I'm seeing all these similar apps, yeah, they're all 2 - 5 bucks, but I'm not going to buy 5 of these apps, just to end up sticking with one or two them... it's fine if devs want only to SELL their apps on the MAS, but they should also make some DEMO builds... for people to download and try!

It sounds interesting but how am I expected to shell out for this app if I don't even know whether I will like it. Without a demo I guess I wont be trying it.

This is a clever little utility that's especially useful when you connect and disconnect from an external monitor (and like to rearrange your windows because of that). I wish the menu bar icon could be disabled (I'm out of space up there), but other than that this little gem is stable, reasonably priced and it just works without having to read any kind of complicated how-to install and use document.
