a headphone is a solution but not optimal.
msnsa skype is able to do it without echo and infinite audio loop.
i'll test v2.8 for improvements.
But yes, skype noise cancellation works great. It just comes at a price and that is your freedom.
If not, and you are getting feedback with just 1 machine in the room you can lower your Input Gain and if you can control the mic/speaker placement, change it so the mic isn't pointed at the speaker — in fact you could test it in the same room with a sound barrier of some sort. If you are using the internal mic, then get external directional mic and you can set it up properly.
Feedback cancellation is a feature not everything has, and if you are using it to make a call within the same room, this might not even be cancelable. You could request that feature, but if you are asking for 2 machines in the same room to work without feedback, don’t be surprised if you get a less than respectful reply because it would be a silly request.
