Flightcheck was a disaster when they converted to OSX. Since then, it has improved ... but very slowly considering the number of comments on their User forum. I upgraded our prep department but was very hesitant ... a great tool which Markzware has been slow to re-sharpen.

FlightCheck Prov5.7 saves us and many that I know a lot of money. I have seen some interesting reviews and seems like many are comparing apples to kiwis, which just is not a good idea. (yes, v4.5 was as solid as a rock, but ever since OSX came out, all (ALL) applications took time and are still being better optimized to run on this operating system.) We tried InDesign's "so-called" preflight and that was a joke, could not even check EPS limages and at that, the details are extremely limited. All in all, I would recommend FlightCheck to anyone and certainly any printer, as it preflights numerous file types, from PDF to Quark and InDesign!

FlightCheck Pro 5.7 is VERY impressive. It now checks Adobe® CS 2 files with ease! I must say this version is very similar to the 4.5 version and is back on track, checking files well. I was hesitant about purchasing the product until I saw the demonstration (or webinar) on the markzware website. This convinced me to demo the product and then purchase through CDW at a great price. Good job getting up to speed Markzware.

To my prior post. Again, I must apologize. The last bad review was in 5/24/05, and MANY other bad ones before it. And finally a good review 9/13/05. That STILL should tell the potential buyer - BEWARE !!! By the way I won't give another "1" rating, since it stinks on it's own anyway. The funny thing is, it truly is "#1" (poor).

"FlightCheck v5.7 introduces full preflight support for Adobe Creative Suite 2 components, including InDesign CS2 (v4)" ?!?!?! WHO CARES !?!?! And why waste $500.00 ?!?! Adobe Indesign does an amazing job on it's own collecting the files properly and quickly. When trying to use FlightCheck... Ahhh, forget it. There's no point expressing what most people have been expressing for the longest time now. As I'm writing this, I must apologize. I guess people have given up. There hasn't been a review on this terrible program since 5/19/05. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS PROGRAM JUST ISN'T !!! UPGRADE THAT IN YOUR PROGRAM !!!

Adobe InDesigns built in collection feature is great, and if all you need to do is collect jobs then InDesign will do that for you. As a matter of fact, InDesign even includes basic preflighting. However, FlightCheck Professional does is MUCH more than just collecting the job. FlightCheck performs deep, extensive and customizable preflighting to make sure that your document is READY TO PRINT. As well, FlightCheck then collects all your images, fonts and other files so that you are ensured all your InDesign documents will be print ready. FlightCheck Professional is a kind of insurance that allows you to rest easy - so that you will get what you expect. If your requirements are to simply use the Adobe(r) collection feather, then preflighting may not be very important to you. Professional print companies want the high-quality, print-ready documents, which FlightCheck ensures. Whenever jobs are sent to professional print shops without preflighting a series of miscommunications occur. The printshop then has to go back and forth, often several times to the customer getting the file to print correctly. Or worse yet, the job has already been printed with errors the customer notices after-the-fact. Everyone in the print workflow, from designer to printer has a responsibility to make sure that problems do not materialize within the final product. A single bad print job will can easily exceed the mere $500 cost of FlightCheck Professional.

Since I convert to OS X, everything changed and It seem like that I can't use Quark any more due to the cost of the upgrade and many of the programs that I love are no longer working under Tiger which I have to find alternative solutions for my old app. I am glad seeing Markzware following up with the technology and trying their best to help my job job easier. I hate seeing my files coming back from the printer due to many unexpected bad elements that I can't see them all so now I am feel so much confident to send my files out after running through FlightCheck Pro and collect everything. Apple has changed so many OSX version for the past 3 years and many companies are trying to catching up which I completely understand so all I care is that they are working on it and I give 2 thump up for that effort. Thanks Ninon
