I've been using this since 2012 and have never had an error or issue. I was surprised to see the bad reviews here (most of which, I see, are older). The only minor annoyance is that, if you're using a laptop and disconnect/re-connect to a network, and one of your sync folders is on the network, GoodSync will not connect for you. You have to connect through the Finder, and then do GoodSync. A minor thing.

This software is garbage. I have used GoodSync on and off for several years. Typically, it goes like this: * I find that I have a sync task. * I install the latest version of GoodSync, hoping that it has improved since my last attempt. * I encounter a bunch of intermittent errors. * I submit tickets through GoodSync's help system, and I receive prompt-but-generic-and-totally-unhelpful feedback. * I delete GoodSync and resort to another solution. Why do I keep going back to it? Because I paid for it, and I cling to the hope that they will eventually fix their software to the point where it's *minimally* effective. No dice. It remains as much garbage as it was when I purchased it. Just some of the errors I've encountered: * Locks up while attempting to sync to a folder. Just becomes totally unresponsive. The process needs to be killed, and often the machine rebooted, to recover from the lockup. * "Undefined Error: 0." Constantly. This is GoodSync's version of "An error occurred." Could be a million reasons. Don't bother emailing GoodSync customer support - they don't know and won't help you. * Sync jobs just fail, spontaneously, mid-sync. The sync is running perfectly, the volumes are both still available... aaaaaaaand it abruptly stops. * The network browser is overdesigned and overcomplicated. All you want do is to specify a URL, a username, and a password. Sometimes it accepts the settings. Sometimes it doesn't, it just uses the old settings, and then barfs out random error messages. I give up. They are never going to upgrade this software to minimal usability or competence. I have scoured all of my computer systems of this bloated trashware and deleted my registration information. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't waste your time, and don't give this developer money. You will regret every dime and every moment you spend on this garbage software.

I wanted to love this app as I needed something that will sync my files and folder across macs in a reliable manner. It looked very good feature wise and it worked pretty well. But it has become very unreliable. Sync settings are consistently lost and I constantly find that a job has not been executed because of that. I am going to uninstall it.

At first glance GoodSync seemed an excellent solution. I could've easy named it the best folder synchronization software available for mac. But after doing some testing I decided to remove it from my computer. In area of backup and synchronization - I require a software that is more than reliable. Meanhwile, GoodSync has some major issues with properly handling folders & files operations! I do not know whether these arise from some minor bugs in selection/deselection/context/pointer handling - but it resulted in removal of files and folders I had never wished to remove! Actually I didn't even touch those files in comparison results nor tried to sync them. Thank you, author, for _saved_ folder as I could recover missing files. But such an unpredicted behaviour is much unacceptable to me. :-( Other issues: - when select a few items and pick "delete right file" only first (?) of selected items is actually removed (or maybe GoodSync removed then the other items I had later found in _saved_ folder?) - expand/collapse state of folders is not maintained between operations; this is frustrating - unable to apply default auto-resolution of conflicts when job is not done in schedule - must decide for every item - the interface is incredibly slow; after comparing a few thousand files I decided to apply "copy to right" rule for all about 600 conflicting items selected at once - the program hanged forever But all those above is - i must say this once again - nothing in comparison to the unpredictable file handling issue.

When closing the preferences window (for a selected backup job) the email notification settings are lost... Have tested this on two different computers one running 10.6 the other 10.7. Thus far the support team haven't been very helpful and this has been going on for over 1 month now. Basically, you cant get email notifications after jobs complete AT ALL.

Great program with some advanced features! We use goodsync specifically because it can connect with Amazon S3 shares which as far as I know, none of the other leading backup products on Mac can do. We work at a Post Production house and needed something that could backup our project files offsite. We have filters set to only backup certain file types, and back them directly to a S3 account. The only problem/bug so far is that when closing the preferences window (for a selected backup job) the email notification settings are lost. This is definitely a big issue, as most people who would need the features of GoodSync, will also want email notifications on success and failures. However we have still purchased the program as its benefits outweigh this one bug (which im sure will be fixed soon) (Running on 10.7.1) (I also use this personally on my PC and it works flawlessly)

Yeah, it's a bit misleading but you can use GoodSync for free as long as you have 3 or less jobs that process 100 or fewer files (according to their webpage). I'm trying it out and am liking that it syncs between my local computer and my FTP server (to keep my Aperture library and my ZenPhoto photo album in sync).
