AnteType must be German for "How did I live without this?" Seriously - a godsend. Does what its supposed to and remains free. What else do you want?

Hi there - it seems macupdate have decided to update the listing for some reason and point it towards Antetype that was updated this week to 1.4.0. We have contacted Macupdate to get the listing corrected.

I think there is some confusion here, because they are linking a color picker to an entire development prototyping tool. MacUpdate - is this a correct listing, or is something amiss here?

This is Antetype, not the Antetype Color Picker, latest version 1.3.1. See for the color picker here: http://www.antetype.com/blog/2013/12/updated-antetype-os-x-color-picker-1-3-1/ Note that version 1.3 will only work with 64-bit applications!

Yes the listing is a bit misleading. On the Antetype website they say that as of Antetype version 3 the color picker is now a part of Antetype application. There is a link to a 64-bit color picker version 1.3.1 here: http://www.antetype.com/blog/downloads/AntetypeColorPickerOSX-1-3-1.zip

@ Darksammy5: I didn't notice your question until today, when the latest update to AntetypeColorPicker came out. You may have figured this out by now, but ACP is not an app. It is a color picker that, when installed properly, adds the AntetypeColorPicker to the selection of color pickers available in applications that use the Apple color picker interface. These apps includes, but are not limited to, TextEdit. To see how this works, open a file in TextEdit, click on the color tool in the TextEdit tool bar; at the bottom of the modal window that appears, click the Show Colors button and you will get the standard Apple color palette. Along the top of this palette you will see a variety of color pickers that enable you to choose a color in a number of different ways. With ACP installed, it will be one of these color pickers. It is similar to, but more limited than, the Adobe color picker in Adobe applications like Photoshop.

I want to like this. But I cant get it to work. I followed the installation to the letter but when I launch the color picker, it dose not load. I get a console error similar to the one that follows: 8/31/10 2:01:41 PM Numbers[2469] Custom ColorPicker class with name .DS_Store could not be loaded. 8/31/10 2:01:41 PM Numbers[2469] Error loading /Library/ColorPickers/AntetypeColorPicker.colorPicker/Contents/MacOS/AntetypeColorPicker: dlopen(/Library/ColorPickers/AntetypeColorPicker.colorPicker/Contents/MacOS/AntetypeColorPicker, 265): no suitable image found. Did find: /Library/ColorPickers/AntetypeColorPicker.colorPicker/Contents/MacOS/AntetypeColorPicker: unknown required load command 0×80000022 8/31/10 2:01:41 PM Numbers[2469] Custom ColorPicker class with name AntetypeColorPicker could not be loaded. Anyone have any thoughts on how to get it working? If this thing dose what I think it dose I could really use it.

I love it, RGB and HSB together like it should have been in the first place! Also initially it would not work in one app because of a naming conflict but the developer was very responsive and and fixed the issue right away.

Re the website: Copy (note: not move but copy) to the Color Pickers folder in the Library. It appears something larger of this type is coming in August.

Thanks for the tip - we will add instructions for installation to the description. Of course, the final release will have some more elegant and easier way to install the color picker.
