IMPORTANT MESSAGE macupdate website do not have any right to publish information about our apps. 1. They never asked a permission. 2. Most information published is false like the price or not up to date. 3. If a developer submit an app, they change the main description of apps. Why? 4. They also have an update system for our apps without any rights for it. They never asked authorisation for it. Because of it, they created a mess with our customers ! 5. We tried to contact them many times and they refuse to reply or provide explanation ! Thanks to not use anymore this website and use the Mac App Store instead. It's more honest and developers have more control of the content. Also the content of everything is more accurate. macupdate needs to respect developer rights.

UPDATED STATEMENT FROM ADNX When people are not happy, they say it. When they are happy, they rarely say it. You can read some bad reviews about our policy with our licenses on this page. It's a fact, we disappointed some customers: less than 0.3% actually but they had a strong voice using this service to express their bad mood. Talking about facts that were not even accurate. What we learned about this experience? Any opinion matters and customer satisfaction is always a top priority even if the customer is wrong or had a bad experience because of partners. What we had done to fix the issue? We offered an extended license for one more year to all licenses with problems. It only concerned 0.3% of our customer base but we had to do it. We apologised many times and we can do it again here if it was not enough. What was the origin of the problem? It's too long to explain the technical points and most people will not understand but the mess was created by macupdate service and they never apologise for it. Our main fault was to trust macupdate services. We tried to fix the issues in many ways and may be not the correct ones at the beginning. Every human learn from mistakes and can make mistakes. What do you think about macupdate ? You can see below this post an interesting article from a blogger that you should read. Macupdate service seems to install adwares without your authorisation. Our last message will be for developers: do not trust macupdate team. They will sell you the idea that you can make a lot of money with them. It's just false and we have more than 5 years of experiences with them. If you want : try it one time one of their service and you will see how disappointing the level of sales will be. This service is already almost dead because of the success of the Mac App Store. We only got 1.3 % visitors per month from macupdate website. It's nothing. Anyway, we wish good luck to macupdate. They never replied to us and we think it's just weird. We just think that they should treat developers with more respect. They have a business because of us. THE CONCLUSION Any human learn from mistakes, any human do mistakes. Even the ones behind macupdate ;-)

MACUPDATE USERS SHOULD READ THIS INTERESTING BLOG POST Has MacUpdate fallen to the adware plague? https://blog.malwarebytes.org/cybercrime/2015/11/has-macupdate-fallen-to-the-adware-plague/ In other words, it seems that MacUpdate, long considered to be one of the only remaining trustworthy download aggregation sites for the Mac, has succumbed to the same plague that has ruined most of the others: adware. Following Mr. Urdaneta’s hints, I sought out the Skype page on the MacUpdate site and downloaded the app. The result was a file named Skype Installer.dmg, which seems legit on first glance. However, opening this disk image file results in a MacUpdate installer, very similar to the adware-riddled custom installers used by sites like Download.com and Softonic. Sure enough, when running this installer, it will display a license agreement that the user is likely to click right past, giving the installer the right to change the browser’s settings and install a “Search-Assist” browser extension: This is behavior exhibited by many adware installers these days, and this particular license agreement is identical to the ones being used by the InstallCore adware. And sure enough, once the installer is finished, an InstallCore browser extension ends up installed in Safari: This extension, like all InstallCore extensions, does not use the aforementioned “Search-Assist” name. This one is named “SearchTrust”, but InstallCore extensions have used a variety of other unusual names, such as LadyMcCannon, AtheneTemple, JeffKekko and Eladiolus. Others have reported that the MacUpdate Installer app will also install MacBooster, one of many unnecessary “cleaning” apps that are foisted onto users by these adware installers. The full behavior of such installers is not always clear, as factors such as when you run the installer or what network you’re on can result in different behavior. Download.com (formerly VersionTracker) and Softonic have both been engaging in this kind of behavior for some time, and for this reason, Mac experts have been recommending against the use of such sites. Although it’s generally recommended to only download software from the developer’s site (such as skype.com in the case of Skype), some have continued to recommend MacUpdate, which hasn’t engaged in such behavior… until now. It appears MacUpdate may need to be added to the boycott list. The oft-repeated advice for those looking for software to download bears repeating once again: only download apps from the Mac App Store or from the official developer’s website. This is certainly not a guarantee, unfortunately. For example, the official site for FileZilla distributes an adware-riddled installer. However, downloading from the developer’s site does minimize adware problems. Update (Nov. 3, 2015): It turns out that this is now a “feature” of MacUpdate. If you are a paid member of MacUpdate and are logged in, you won’t see the adware installers. If you are not logged in, you will see them. This is evidently configurable in the profile preferences on a paid MacUpdate account, though not having such an account, I can’t provide specifics. I’ve also been told that the MacUpdate Desktop app will download the real app rather than the adware installer, though I’m unclear as to whether that only applies to a paid copy of MacUpdate Desktop.

ADNX OFFICIAL STATEMENT - THANKS TO READ One year ago, we asked macupdate to respect european laws and to no longer publish our apps on this directory. They refused and never replied to us. Why we asked for that? We were mad on them because they created a software that created a mess with our customer base and our license system. It's too technical to explain. At least, we were expecting apologies. We got nothing. It's a good way to treat developers? Macupdate is making money with our products. They should respect us. A very small minority of customers, mostly users or members of macupdate service were publishing false information, bad comments against us and we can do nothing about it. We tried to explain but these people were stuck in their ideas. It's so easy to demolish a company on the internet ! Because we are french, we had a hard time to explain correctly things. We are sorry about that. From now, we will no longer publish any other comment to this website. Based on our stats, only 2% of Mac users are coming to our site from macupdate. It's a dead web/service. Only a minority of passionate Mac users use it. The developers section of macupdate never work correctly, it's full of bugs and they never reply to request of developers. Just a fact. We are no longer made at them, the fight is now a old story. The most important is that we are very sorry of the experience of our customers. As a result, we no longer work with any partner. We learned something. For the best experience, always deal directly with developers and at least, try to trust them when they explain something. We are a very honest team, loved by thousand of customers worldwide since more than 15 years. We care a lot about our customers, feedback and the quality of our products. Good luck to macupdate and their passionate members. If they both want to publish false or bad information about our products, it's their choice and total liberty. Finally, only the bad face of internet and humans.
