MatchCut

1.0
21 November 2010

AppleScript-able pasteboard manager.

Overview

MatchCut is a pasteboard manager designed to be fast and unobtrusive, like the OS X pasteboard. Keep a record of your texts, files, colours and fonts, automatically or when you drop text or an image onto MatchCut\'s window. Have your item available at a key press or mouse click when you need it. Then paste or drag it into your document.

Modify clippings as you paste them, using MatchCut\'s \'tweaks\', a set of small Applescripts that can easily be extended with your own.

MatchCut helps in finding a specific clipping with search and sort functions to get the right one without having to browse through material that\'s not needed at this time.

MatchCut is easy to operate, but comes with a help file that details its functions.

MatchCut is currently in beta.

This clipboard manager looks promising but too many actions are required to just paste. I think it should behave a bit like PTHPasteboard, meaning : - only 1 click on the menubar icon to show the window (Ctrl-click to show menu) - auto-selection on mouse over (doesn't work for me on 10.6) - only 1 click to paste AND close the window

Hello ELMARCO, thank you for having taken the time to post your thoughts on MatchCut. I'd like to answer to the points you have made. - only 1 click on the menubar icon to show the window (Ctrl-click to show menu) Maybe MatchCut is a bit too keyboard centred, probably because my personal preference is to start it with the 'hotkey'. But there should be a faster way for people who prefer using the mouse, agreed. - auto-selection on mouse over (doesn't work for me on 10.6) At this time, all what mouse over does is to make MatchCut the active application (if that doesn't work for you, that would be clearly a bug). - only 1 click to paste AND close the window Right now, one click just selects the item at this time, to allow other functions to be used on the item. This could also be addressed differently , though. People may want to paste more than one item in a row. To automatically close the window would be counterproductive then. But this seems to be a perfect candidate for a preference setting. Much food for thought, thanks again for that, Dirk
