UI Browser

2.9.0
27 October 2019

Monitor the user interface of OS X apps.

Overview

PFiddlesoft's UI Browser helps you to explore, manipulate, and monitor the user interface of most OS X applications running on your computer. With the push of a button, it also generates AppleScript statements to control any application using GUI Scripting, even applications that are not otherwise scriptable. No other utility provides all of the information you need in order to write scripts using GUI Scripting.

What's new in UI Browser

Version 2.9.0:
  • Adds support for new Accessibility features introduced by Apple in macOS Catalina 10.15.
  • Now automatically highlights the target application's UI element under the cursor when in Screen Reader mode.
  • Now refreshes its browser view automatically when it is brought to the front if a window or other UI element in the target application was created or destroyed while UI Browser was in the background.
  • Now has a Validate button in the Notifications drawer to show information from Apple's Accessibility Definitions file, like the Validate buttons in the Actions and Attributes drawers.
  • Now follows VoiceOver best practices when speaking its own Accessibility labels.
  • Implements numerous performance enhancements and a number of minor bug fixes.

Wow, this seems to be a remarkable tool. Would love to buy this if there were a sale on it.

I get quite a bit of use out of UIBrowser as I do a lot of UI automation that Automator simply can't handle. UIBrowser is stable and well documented; the developer is also very responsive.

Dreaded package installer with no documentation with it in the dmg to let you know what it installs and where. Until that happens, I'm not going to even Demo this.

The first page presented by the package installer states as follows. If you decide not to install it, just quit the Installer. "The installer places the UI Browser application in the Applications folder, our PFAssistive and PFEventTaps Frameworks in the local Frameworks folder, and the UI Element Scripts (PFiddlesoft) folder in the Scripts folder in the local Library. It removes old versions found in these or related locations, except it moves an old version of the UI Element Scripts folder to the trash in case you made changes to it and want to save them."

if it's a standard MacOS X installer, you can always press cmd-i to see all files that are installed.

Judging by 1.3 this will be an absolutely Brilliant program gui scripting is often the only way to control certain functions in apps or the os - this allows you to quickly find the names of them and makes the code to perform basic tasks (like clicking them) i have used this to map my f and other keys (so quicksilver can run the scripts) to control much of the os Great work - looking forward to getting tiger James

You might want to read the description of this product a bit closer. Gosh that pricing is a bit steep!
