DPS *used to be* a great plugin for enhancing audio system-wide. However, it appears to have been abandoned by Bongiovi Acoustic Labs (Bongiovi). It started becoming unstable on macOS Catalina, wherein all audio output stopped on a sporadic basis. Killing and restarting app, or unloading/loading the kext were the recommended solutions; neither was an ideal one. Bongiovi made some half-hearted attempts at correcting it, but still doesn't have a working solution. There was an updated 2.2.5.1 release in December 2020, which also didn't work. Bongiovi's response was to "roll your installation back to a previous working version (2.2.3.1)". They've also stopped responding on their support forum.

Did not use it on my Mac due to missing quality speakers. But I use Bongiovi in JetAudio on my iPhone and it's a huge improvement. Don't wanna miss it there. It makes music a whole new experience.

As of August, 2018 they have moved to a SUBSCRIPTION system of payment. [Expletives deleted] "Starting at $2.99/month." You can download a 30 day trial. Customers who purchased before August, 2018 can continue to use the app without a subscription. Personally: I don't do subscriptions and never will. There are some exceptions, such as critical professional applications upon which businesses depend. I find it disturbing that Apple is pushing developers to move to subscription plans for more minor apps, such as this. No thank you. Consider my interest killed.

Used it successfully in the past, but program failed after upgrading to OSX10.14. Installed 2.2.0.9: 1. blocked by Little Snitch due to invalid signature. 2. No audio unless Headphone OSX setting. 3. Headphone setting disables Bongiovi. Netnet: Bongiovi no longer fails on launch, but is unusable on my system. Installation asks for keychain access - no explanation. Have abandoned use. Overall, my experience reflects poorly on developers QA and usability / user friendliness.

Major update Major issues, this latest release, has a BIG codesign issue (installed on 10.12.6) apparently caused by google analytics framework..... NOW why the hell is that necessary for an audio application?? obviously FORCED to rollback to previous version all is fine please show a little of respect towards those who paid and supported your work, google is NOT our friend...

There does appear to be some issues with 10.13 High Sierra. Hoping to see these issues resolved ASAP as per the forums. Overall a nice program. I miss the flexibility of Hear, but I like the quality of Bongiovi DPS. Many of the inadequacies of Bongiovi DPS control compared to Hear can be resolved with Static Z's Sound Control app, but there are some incompatibilities that the author of that is working through right now due to some problems in the way Bongiovi DPS handles controls.

I'm using it for years and I like it more then Boom. Never lets me down and gives superb sound quality!

@MacUpdate, please do note that this app is up to 2.1.0.10 as per two comments ago and was updated this spring so it's not ancient as per the original date listed here.

When it works, it works really well. I recently replaced Hear with this thanks to various problems I was having with it. I tried some other options, but in the end Bongiovi DPS offers the better quality. It would be nice to turn it off on a per app basis like Hear offers. I would like a little stronger integration perhaps. I see some problems with TeamViewer when working on other systems. I also have had problems with some issues with a Hackintosh I use for rendering and as a backup to my primary Mac Pro, but I can't fault them too much on that except perhaps a little laziness or lack of interest in customers' needs. Would like to see a little more effort put into testing and being diverse in support. There were some problems with the app in macOS 10.12 for me, but 10.13 is working perfectly and quite impressive all the way around.

Don't buy since it stopped working; when launched, it opens a box asking you to purchase it or to activate your key, all this being impossible since for weeks, they are pretending undergoing some revamp of their system. I hate these cavalier manners

It is difficult to make an accurate A-B comparison because the sound with DPS enabled is louder and the human ear interprets louder as better.

I really like this application. I used to use Volume Logic plugin for iTunes back in the day, but this has completely replaced it for me, and works pretty well. The only problem I have is that the app stops by itself frequently, for no apparent reason. The version I am using is 1.04. I am not sure what the problem is, but it happens out of blue, tried with iTunes and VOX, the same story. I hope there is some fix soon. Other than this, its a great application.

Now it is very good .. like the DPS Equalizer Advanced, the becomes more "real" with my Sony Multi Channel AV Receiver. thank you

New version (1.0.3) is out: New version details: Setup Helper for new users to understand how DPS works. Native Mountain Lion AirPlay support. This is for AUDIO ONLY. If you wish to use DPS with video to an Apple TV (for example) please refer to the AirFoil help page. We have fixed many video/audio sync issues. Added Notification Center messages (Mountain Lion only). These may be enabled/disabled in the Preferences page. Other bug fixes and improvements.

The sound app is _Boom_, which can't easily be seen because the game app is in the way. BOOM doesn't belong here. It's a game.

The system-wide plugin is available. Installation was easy, and for me the upgrade was free. I can't test it at the moment but wanted to share this information. Also check the new profiles. Thanks for adding Grado headphones. I'll also check out the H.E.A.R. technology that's included. Thanks!

Since 2010 you have been saying that you will be coming out with a system wide plug in. So where is it? Guess I and others will have to stay with "Hear."

Overall a nice iTunes plugin. Just noticed that it doesn't work with iTunes 10.5 beta.

Amazing sound quality, has presets for my iMac built-in speakers, desktop speakers ( Harman Kardon Soundsticks ) and my headphones ( Bose around ear ). I was skeptical about purchasing an add-on for iTunes but glad I did, keep up the great work, and thanks. P.S. I found this at macZot on sale

This thing gives me . . . a roughly 2-minute demo and then insists I buy it? It takes longer to just try to find the configuration that might sound best. I'm intrigued, but I still want to tinker with it for a bit. You think you could give me 3 minutes? No sale.

DPS Plugin has the same shortfall as SRS iWOW and all the other plugins that improve the sound quality over iTunes own built-in equalizer: they are not compatible with Airport Express and cannot stream the enhanced sound to the speaker system. Interestingly, Apple's own equalizer and sound enhancing feature does support Airport Express!! So, unless your speakers are plugged into your Mac directly, save your money!

We all know that VolumeLogic is out of the software business. So I was searching for a replacement. I compared the DPS Plugin with VolumeLogic and heard an even greater difference. The sound remastering is way better then VolumeLogic or any other plugin. It's is amazing and a must if you care about sound.
