Do not conform to MacOS X user interface standard: no drag&drop to organize the pages or add a file, even in the merge function you must do all using dialogs and inserting pages numbers instead of viewing the pages that you are moving/merging. It looks like a Windows App, not a MacOS App!

I am looking for a good PDF editor that can do OCR on scanned PDF's for bills etc. as well as combining PDF ages into one document. Does this software have the OCR functionality?

Hi: When the write up says that Proview can edit encrypted pdfs does that mean it can do so without knowing the encryption password? ie can it crack the file?

Thanks for the heads-up. I couldn't find that info on the developer's site; where'd you find that?

I guess, only registered users received that information. On june 25, I received an email from the developer with an upgrade offer: Quote: Proview 1.5 adds significant new features, whilst improving interactivity; functionality which required dialog boxes is now live and interactive. Adding text is now completely interactive with the new text inspector Merge and reorder pages within and between documents by drag and drop Unicode now supported throughout PDF manipulation almost twice as fast Edit page labels Supports OS X Lion and Snow Leopard Handles malformed files better More that 50 other changes and improvements Upgrade now for just $24 / €19 / £15 (Ends 30th July 2012) /quote The mail also contains a (personalized?) link to the upgrade page. So, after almost 2 years without updates/bug fixes, the version number jumps from 1.2 to 1.5 and is a paid upgrade.

Hi, You need to apply the license code you were given to turn it into the full version! If you'd still like a refund, you'll need to contact us directly - macupdate is just a software listing site, and no-one saw your message until we happened upon it in these comments. All the best, Coherent Graphics Ltd

Hi, Thanks for your comments. You'll be pleased to know that the latest version (1.5) addresses many of your concerns: 1. Drag and drop of pages and files is now supported including in the merge function 2. Dialog use is much reduced - the add text functionality is now completely live, and page ranges can be selected visually. There's plenty of new functionality too. Again, thank you for your feedback. It's much appreciated. Coherent Graphics Ltd

Hi there. I'm not trying to be ironic, but I truly would like to know what could be the difference between the (apparently similar) functions of Proview PDF Editor and the ones already built-in on the preview.app of Snow Leopard. Thank you!

OK, so how does Proview compare to PDFPen and PDFPen Pro?

With regards to PDFpen - it's a great product, but for a rather different audience - Proview specialises in batch operations over multiple pages, and in technical alterations to the PDF - I believe PDFpen is better suited to people who want to add annotations and deal with PDF forms and other user-level function - we don't provide functionality for those things.
