Native YouTube client.

Overview

Minitube is a YouTube desktop application. With it you can watch YouTube videos in a new way: you type a keyword, Minitube gives you an endless video stream. Minitube aims to create a TV-like experience. It automatically plays videos one after another, so sit back and enjoy.

By consuming less CPU, Minitube preserves battery life and keeps your laptop cool. That's because Minitube takes advantage of QuickTime and does not use the Flash Player. Minitube plays HD videos up to 1080p. Go full-screen and watch them play smoothly.

With Minitube you can search by keyword, search YouTube channels or just paste a YouTube URL.

This is simply an awesome tool. The flash player plugin eats up 80% of cpu in my macbook pro. This tool only uses 20-25% of cpu. Really genius.

Great application that I have been using for more than 5 years. Please note, however, support for 10.6 was dropped with version 2.5.

Yes, I miss Snow Leopards support as well. Without downloads and Snow Leopard 4Kdownloader is the better bet.

This software works but is akward to use: a de facto search listing that is permanantly stuck on the left, with video snapshots first, INSTEAD of video titles. A simple list of video titles would be far more useful than this clutter! The option to download a video is no longer available and the nag pop-ups for the demo does not help when the demo is for 20 days, as it is.

Where the crunch did the Download option go? Please bring it back.

— Needs playback controls in fullscreen mode — Needs switchable playlists without having to type in the search field or relaunch the app Maybe all that is available in the full version, but how am I supposed to know that without paying for the app first? Can't buy a product without knowing about it's capabilities.

Hi Mark, the demo is identical to the full version except for the "reminder" box. It's that simple.

Flavio, so the Preferences menu is inaccessible in the full version too?

Yes, that's a small glitch I'll have to sort out. There are actually no preferences at all. That's my design philosophy :)

Flavio, ah, I see. Thanks for the reply. But in any case, even though I really like your app, but due to lack of the aforementioned features (playback controls in fullscreen and the playlist thingy), I can't buy it. Otherwise it would be a downgrade from MacTubes for me. I hope you will, at least, consider doing those. But until then, I'm stuck with stupid ugly MacTubes. :(

On Lion, now you have access to playback controls by moving the mouse to the top of the screen.

This is a superb lightweight YouTube client. i love that it doesn't use Adobe Flash. the interface is very Mac-like. It behaves as you'd expect e.g. press the space bar to pause and play. If you crave to see the comments, you can right click on a playing video, select the appropriate option and the YouTube webpage will open (and the Minitube client will pause playback)

Well, I guess it is unfair to give a halfstar on the basis that Linux version is free. It is a complex matter, if you're really interested come discuss it on my blog. Mactubes is just different, if you took the time to the test the app you would know.

To falvio - I think this has to be a troll. He gave Many Tricks' Usher a low rating, and that is kick-ass fantastic.

Türkçe destek görmek güzel. 10.6.2 üzerinde de sorunsuz çalýþýyor. Lakin, arama sonrasýnda otomatik olarak ilk parçayý çalmasý ve referans ayarlarýna eriþememe durumu var.
