Mahjong In Poculis overview

Mahjong In Poculis is a free Mahjong game with hundreds levels and a quick startup process.

The game comes with 6 fun themes, and for each one: 50 layouts and 5 medals to win.

Play Modes
  • Child: you can select all the identical tiles whether they are on layout borders or not.
  • Standard: only border tiles can be selected. Once you have no more possibility for association, tiles are shuffled to give you a second chance.
  • Expert: the same as Standard mode without a second chance. You need extreme concentration to be able to overcome all the layouts.

This version adds a soundtrack to the game that randomly rotates as you play. You can turn down the music if you like. As ever, the sound effects are great. The graphics effects as you near the finish of each puzzle are fun. The images are great. It's a light memory matching challenge for when you're awake but want a simple puzzle game to wind down your head. The only complaint I have is the subtlety of differences between some of the pieces. For example, sometimes the color saturation is very low, making it annoying to try to figure out what's red, what's green, what's blue etc. Note that the game, although free, does have a set of nags for your to upgrade. That's only fair. Overall, very well done and worth playing.

I do like this game but wonder why MacUpdate is actually going backwards as far as versions go. The up-to-date one is version 5.62 which In Poculis has has and the Apple/Mac App Store has. This was just a notice to let you know since I actually haven't played 5.62 yet. I didn't want to put stars here because the one here is an old version.
