1.2

Make new windows appear at a specific location and size on the screen.

Overview

FinderMinder allows you to specify where (position) and what size you want newly opened Finder windows to appear. The default Finder behavior is to remember the last position and size for every window, but this can be frustrating if you already know where you want every window to appear (for example, centered at 800x600). FinderMinder must be running for window reposition and resize to take place.

FinderMinder must continue running in the background for window reposition and resize to take place, so click the "Hide" button to dismiss the preferences and keep FinderMinder running. Simply re-launch FinderMinder to access the preferences again or to quit the app.

This application does exactly what it says. Every time I hit "Command N" when the finder is open, I've had to move the window. Now I can have every new window open not only in the exact location, but also at the exact size that I want. There are probably lots of other ways to do this, but this is what I found first. It doesn't get any easier than this.

I have the same issue in High Sierra 10.13.3 where the FinderMinder 1.3 (FM) window would not hide on login despite syspref settings. I use an Automator app as a work-around, it's a cludge but it works for me. There 3 automator steps: 1. Launch Application: Finder Minder. 2. Pause (at least 2 seconds in my case). 3. Watch Me Do: where I recorded a mouse click of the"hide" button in FinderMinder's popup window (I could not identify a more direct way to hide or minimize FM). I saved this automation as an app that launches at login in system preferences. I also removed the FM app itself from the login items in system preferences as that is now handled by the new FinderMinder Automator app.

Fantastic application. Very fast, doesn't slow down your computer, and automatically adjusts all Finder windows to a specified size and position. If you're frustrated by constantly resizing Finder windows when you make a new Folder or mount a Disk Image, this is the app for you! Highly recommended!! ★★★★★
