Myth II: Soulblighter boasts numerous improvements to the game engine and added features that improve gameplay.
In Myth II destruction reigns supreme. Castle walls will crumble under a barrage of Dwarven mortar fire. Drawbridges will lower before your besieging army. Flaming arrows will rain down from battlements, lighting the ground beneath you. Dark wizards will hurl deadly sorceries at your ranks, scattering even your bravest warriors.
Myth II: Soulblighter is a unique strategy game, set in a 3D world of dangerous alliances and ancient evil, where all beings tremble before the wrath of Soulblighter, cruelest and most cunning of the evil Fallen Lords.

- 64-bit support for Mac OS X and Linux.
- Ability to join co-operative games while they're in progress.
- HiDPI support and a new expanded interface
- New game type: "King of the Map" which uses territories flags and weighted king of the hill scoring based on number of flags held.
- New "Rehost" and "Restart" buttons in the multiplayer quit/pause dialog for the host.
- New hosting option to display narrations and cutscenes during cooperative multiplayer.
- Extended zoom: up to 5x in replays and when observing (requires DX11/OpenGL).
- New "Motion Interpolation" option to make the game even smoother.
- Improved New Game dialogs, with enhanced and streamlined plugin management.
- Numerous performance optimizations to improve game launch speed, save game load time, and CPU use while playing.

The volunteer led group of Mythers called ProjectMagma once again show why Myth 2 is timeless.
This new version includes a HUGE amount of gameplay enhancements and system performance upgrades.

Apparently a bug has been uncovered which has caused the developers to temporarily withdraw the Soulblighter 1.7.1 release until it has been fixed:

Nice! I haven't played this game in almost ten years, but I still have my original CD copy, and am surprised how well it works, even on a completely different OS and hardware architecture than the last system I played this on (an original Sawtooth G4 tower running Mac OS 9).
The sprites look pretty dated, but otherwise this still looks (and sounds) great, and most importantly is still fun. Thanks to the developers who continue to maintain this project for their ongoing efforts to preserve this classic game.
