Hello, Everyone! GMGP LLC, the new owners of TuneUp here. So sorry that many of you have had so many issues with TuneUp 3.0. As some of you have noted, TuneUp is now under new ownership and we're working on making new improvements to the product. You can read more about the transition here: http://www.tuneupmedia.com/company-info

For those of you on versions 3.0+, we strongly recommend that you download version 2.4.8, which is TuneUp’s strongest, most stable and most accurate version. For more information about how to do that, go here: http://support.tuneupmedia.com/hc/en-us/categories/200045018-Download-TuneUp-Version-2-4-8-

As a license holder I received this from the current distributors of this app:

"As some of you may know, TuneUp Media Inc., the original publishers of TuneUp, ceased operations last month. Since then, the original founding team along with a dedicated group of former employees have put forth a huge effort to make sure that a better version of the TuneUp software survives.

What's Changed?

We've listened, and we're here for you. We know that many of you have had serious issues with TuneUp 3.0, and have asked to return to the old version, TuneUp 2.48. We hear you loud and clear, and we're doing just that.

Moving forward, we will support TuneUp 3.0 customers as best as we can, but encourage you to switch back to TuneUp 2.48, as we feel (like many of you do) that this version is much more stable, reliable, intuitive and accurate."

The email also included instructions on uninstalling version 3 as well as a link to download the now-recommended version 2.48 (http://support.tuneupmedia.com/hc/en-us/articles/201628296-Dowload-TuneUp-Version-2-4-8)

TuneUp for Mac managed to mess up my iTunes collection. I have spent months ripping old CDs and hunting for cover art online. I had literally hundreds and hundreds of track lists to check, many of which needed fixing. I found out I had a license for TuneUp through the MacHeist 4 nanobundle, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Bad idea.

I have lots of classical music. TuneUp did about 20% of these correctly. The rest was messed up - wrong cover art, wrong titles, and in some cases it even changed the album completely, so that iTunes Match thought it was a completely different recording. Some CDs were actually turned into Japanese versions.

I have some compilation CDs. About half of these were split up, with single songs scattered all over the place. It is virtually impossible to figure out which song belongs to which compilation without digging out the CDs again and checking them.

TuneUp got a lot of th ecover art wrong. I have found no way to tell TuneUp to choose a different version. Nothing happens if I try to clock on a cover image.

Beware! This software does not work as advertised. It is buggy, difficult to use, a resource hog and very, very slow (it spent a week working through my collection!).

Since update to 3 this program is crap, lets slash the seats...

How about it. It was Killer BEFORE 3. Must be new unaware owners, with employees pulling the wool over their eyes... we out in the field, feel betrayed... to bad it was a neat beginning Now I have wasted my money. I would like a refund if you have no plans on large libraries. This was Not Part of the Deal!!!

Unusable in its present form Start Developing 2 again and you can keep my money... Probably will anyway..

WHO KILLED TUNEUP??? and WHY

TuneUp 3 is an update that I would approach with extreme caution. TuneUp Media has so many problems with version 3 that they announced the rerelease of version 2.4 on Nov 1st 2013 on their Facebook page. Use MacUpdate's RELATED LINKS to download the prior version of TuneUp if you dare to take a plunge.

Not worth the price. It has a fairly big album library and does genre assignment pretty well but it's less polished than it should be.

Extremely slow. Always syncs with iTunes when opening which can take 5-15 minutes depending on your library. Takes forever to pull up data in results mode, and also applying those changes to the library.

Not always accurate. Some examples. Combined the bands Air and Air Supply into one album. Allman Brother's "Jessica" radio edit and full versions are mixed up even though they're different lengths. Some albums which were at one time released as sets are combined into one. Does very badly with comedy tracks, assigning them to random music albums.

Not configurable. Can't turn off Tuniverse, startup sync, or modify how TuneUp searches or applies for album data. For classical I'd like the composer to be listed as artist rather than the performer. I want to choose which genres are selected rather than having just 3 levels. Multi-disc albums are separated into different albums in iTunes even though iTunes supports more than one disc per album.

Music Brainz Picard is a better choice. You do have to drag in tracks in manually but it's free and usually more accurate.

Worked through my iTunes library and then crashed when I tried to relaunch. Keeps prompting me to update the app even though I deleted it (using AppZapper).

iTunes will now no longer recognize my library. After this I am reinstalling ML and restoring from Time Machine prior to install of this worthless application.

Terrible program, nonexistent support. If you want to spend a few weeks trying to recover your iTunes library, feel free to waste your money on this piece of junk. Don't, however, waste your time waiting for a reply from their support personnel. I should have been wary when I was getting constant emails telling me what a wonderful program this was and what a great deal I was getting.

Buggy. Clunky. A total waste of money.

I emphatically recommend that you do not install TuneUp 3 on your computer. The last version I installed contained Chatzum-A malware, which is stealthily installed via the Nation Toolbar even when you opt not to install it. TuneUp have apparently released a new installer, not made by Zako, the company behind Nation Toolbar. A step in the right direction if true. However, I will never trust TuneUp again.

The fact is that TuneUp attempted to install advertising (the Nation Toolbar) on paying customers' computers and it really shouldn't. If you buy a piece of software, you expect at the very least the ads to be removed.

I don't think all the comments here are right, BTW. Used properly, TuneUp will not damage your iTunes library. Properly = follow the instructions + use common sense. Common sense = don't allow any application to change a bunch of files before you review the changes. Luckily, my Karlheinz Stockhausen collection wasn't tagged as Miley Cyrus' Greatest Hits and the Best of Billy because I checked first. I'd expect other users to do the same. (BTW. that didn't happen. TuneUp did not recognize my Stockhausen rips and was going to label them something outrageous, but since I can't remember what that was, Miley Cyrus and Billy will do in a pinch.

Not a fan of the latest version - it automatically was going through my entire MP3 collection and "updating" all the tags, which are now jacked up. If you're on v2 then I would recommend not upgrading. If you inadvertently upgraded to v3 then I hope you have a backup copy of v2 because there isn't a link to download it from their site.
