Creative photo sharing service.

Overview

Smilebox is a creative photo sharing service that extends what you can do with iPhoto, iTunes, and Photo Booth. You can mix your photos, videos, and music with animated designs you can email, post to a website or blog, or print. Smilebox is a free service with premium upgrades for print, more music choices, and ad-free playbacks.

Features:
  • Photos, videos and music: Combine your photos, videos and music, and share them inside animated, interactive designs.
  • Works great with iPhoto and iTunes: Easily drag and drop your photos and videos from iPhoto and Photo Booth directly into Smilebox. You can also easily add your music from iTunes. No plug-ins and no lengthy uploads required.
  • Professionally designed content for every occasion: The Smilebox catalog is continually refreshed and has more than 700 digital scrapbooks, slideshows and greeting, with new designs released each week. Smilebox has partnered with the leaders in digital design including Hallmark, Making Memories, K and Company, DigiChick, Sweet Shoppe and more.
  • Interactivity: Recipients can click on photos to enlarge them, turn pages as well as control speed and flow of playback experience.
  • More ways to share: Share your interactive creations via email, post them to a blog, social network or personal website or print pages at home or at a local retail store.

The software may be free, but using it apparently requires a paid monthly subscription fee. This should be made much clearer by the Developer, IMHO.

Smilebox does have a free component. You can make free smileboxes and share them via email. A friend sends me them often - they're fun and cute - and they are free for her to make them and send me the link.

It took an extra click to get to the to the Smilebox home page because the "Visit Developer's Site" link is broken. Once there, clicking the "It's free" link reveals you'll pay $6/month or $40/year for ad-free playback and other features.
