I noted that MacUpdate desktop shows that the current version is 2.4, but when I emailed the company this morning to check, they said that 1.9 was the current version.

Email the developer at support@stock-spy.com and he'll send you a redeem code. I just did and he responded immediately.

Initially I was not impressed, but the software has grown on me. I like the ease of adding new stocks, how it offers a basket of other info sites and keeps up to date on news, even filtering my list based on best performing, with timely price updates. Especially like the custom link addition of websites.

Would be great if it had a notes section to record data, or track your portfolio priceXquantity=

But other apps can do that, StockSpy does a lot for web based and news research. I especially like seeing the bubble news appear

Could developer tell me why I see another item in your website that charges further if one wants something more after buying this app.?

This app. is not a full version? Any one that wants to use full functions must pay for another charge?! I didn't see the information in the introduction page!

Could developer explain to us what is the difference between the two?

No other purchase necessary to use StockSpy. This is a full version. The product sold on Stock-Spy.com is an older version designed for PC. This version is designed specifically for the Mac and the Mac App Store. I hope this helps! Thanks.

The company ignores inquiries about the features and the included stock markets. They even went so far to delete a question of mine from their Facebook wall without comment.

The demo version from their homepage looks completely different than the screenshots. There are only negative comments about the app in the AppStore.

Also... The version on Stock-Spy.com is an older Java based version designed for PC and cross platform use. This version is designed specifically for Mac only is the same app as the one found in the Mac App Store. There is actually a greater breadth of features in this version than the older Java version on Stock-Spy.com.

@Mhoutman - StockSpy works with many European exchanges. Unfortunately Luxembourg is not supported. See http://stock-spy.com/faq.php. We have our own update mechanism.

I have been using this for about a week and I have to say I really like the way all the big financial pages on the internet are brought into one app with the integrated browser. I typically use the portfolio I have setup in Google Finance, but I like this better for news and prices.

The charts could use some more options besides just daily, weekly, or monthly and it would be nice to pick a different chart or even create custom charts for each ticker symbol. Still I like what it does and the price is good.

I have been using Stock Spy since 1.50 now.

It is a very nice source of info on most markets

In some occasion the feed fetched is totally unrelated, but it is not a big nuisance.

One big drawback is the lack of a " check for update " feature.

If you want the latest version you need to ask support from the developper.

StockSpy allows user to track stock market news. Now more than ever you need to be on top of what is happening with your investments.

StockSpy for OS X simplifies tracking stock market news for the companies you follow and allows you to visualize how the news affects stock prices with NewsCharts!

With StockSpy you can automatically load several top quality RSS news feeds for each of the symbols you're tracking. This provides you with more complete information when making your important investment decisions. Say goodbye to wasting time by manually checking several news websites and still not getting the whole picture on your stocks. Start making more money because you have the information to make smart trades.

NewsChart technology shows you how the news volume changes over time. As you scroll through the news articles the NewsChart highlights the currently active bar for the visible news items in the news list. This means if you find a day which had interesting price change (like a big pop or drop) you can easily find out what news was "driving" the stock. We have taken this great innovation we call NewsCharts from Stock Spy for the iPad & iPhone (check them out in the AppStore) and brought it to OS X!

StockSpy provides easy access to information from the top Investor websites with Symbol Specific website links. This allows you to browse detailed information about specific stocks having to type a symbol.

StockSpy allows complete customization of news sources. Our innovative feed template system allows you to setup a news feed once and use it for every symbol in your list. You can also add individual feeds to a specific stock. StockSpy uses the extremely popular RSS feed standard. Many popular financial news websites provide RSS news feeds free of charge. Blogs, investor relations sites even the SEC provide RSS feeds which can accessed using StockSpy! ... If you have never heard of RSS news feeds before don't worry. You will still be able to make use of them using StockSpy.

With recent volatility in the global financial markets access to timely investment information is a necessity. With StockSpy on OS X this information is at your fingertips.
