MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update overview

MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update replaces EFI Firmware Update 2.9 and is recommended for MacBook Air (Mid 2011) models. This update addresses an issue where systems may take longer to wake from sleep than expected and fixes a rare issue that may cause fans to run at full speed after waking from sleep.

The MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update will update the EFI firmware on your computer.

Your computer's power cord must be connected and plugged into a working power source. When your MacBook Air restarts, a gray screen will appear with a status bar to indicate the progress of the update. It will take several minutes for the update to complete. Do not disturb or shut off the power on your MacBook Air during this update.

This update didn´t fix the hdmi issue at all. Still colors that are way of or downright missing. I really hope that Apple diggs into this and provides a REAL WORKING FIX!

Confirming NON-SOLUTION. Applied the EFI update and no solution to garbage HDMI performance. Running MBA mid-2012 to BenQ GL2440 HDMI screen, OS X 10.8.2 with 8GB RAM, 128GB Flash. Six months and this is the first sign from Apple that the issue exists and their solution doesn't work!!! needless to say, NOT impressed with NON-SOLUTION!!!

Significantly increased speed of my MBA, especially start up and shut down. Update must have some sort of problem with PRAM. After installation had to reset PRAM to get start up tone. On subsequent start up tone is gone so have to reset PRAM again...(loop). Really like the speed increase!!!
