Apparently MU has missed the posting from Sampler, below, that this app is FREE. Paid registration is optional, and enables certain unspecified fancy features (the only one mentioned is "HTML Export", whatever that is). From the app's splash screen "SourceGear DiffMerge is an award-winning file diff and merge tool that has been helping professional developers and hobbyists since 2007. SourceGear DiffMerge is licensed for use free of charge. However, by registering DiffMerge you will help fund new product development, maintenance, and support. As a way of thanking our registered users and encouraging additional registrations, we have added some new features in 4.2..."

MU: CURRENT VERSION IS FREE.

My wife had somehow duplicated a sizable folder (hundreds of files) and saved to both versions. Diffmerge was the only free or demo app I could find that showed me the folder differences and then successfully merged them. I registered for $19.00, which added some report export functions.

An update is long overdue. There is still an active support forum, with questions answered; feature requests and bug reports taken; and for at least one bug, a fix version available privately. Diffmerge 4.20 is also a part of one of SourceGear's commercial products, so you'd think there is incentive to update.

This review is for the older version 3.3.2. It works as advertised. Has all the features I need, and is fairly easy to figure out how to use. The GUI isn't the sleekest thing in the word, so I dock it a star for that. Also want to point out that a similar, though uglier and more limited application (with GUI) is native to OS X via Xcode, i.e.: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Applications/FileMerge.app

The download link does not work. Gives the following error: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it.

Nice and easy, just as expected from this utility. However, I cannot send command-arguments with spaces, say if file name contains space, I tried "bla bla.txt", it does not work .. Will be glad for a fix.. Thanks,Yuval

Very useful, only drawback is you need a file system integrated service like ftp for comparing to files on server. This is not major however. Interface could use a little more elegance but the base function of comparing files and folder content saves me hours of time when I have such problems.

Instantly found 3 very minor differences in 3800 lines of PHP code in 2 files. Thanks for a very useful tool.

How do I set up diffmerge with Mercurial? I use the Murky GUI for some development, but it looks for opendiff.

I can't seem to open .doc or .odt files. Are these simply not supported?

This version is NOT compatible with the specs listed. As of this version, it doesn't run on a PPC with 10.5.8.

Awesome tool! Merge individual files or entire source trees with ease. DiffMerge wins because I can work much more quickly with it than with FileMerge because there's never any doubt what the merged file is going to have in it. The only feature I can think of adding is a context menu option to copy missing files from one tree to the other. Recommended!

Wow. And free. A very nice diff tool. I only wish I could switch the files back and forth between the source and edit panels iin edit mode with out having to reload the files or open another window or anything. It's picky, but the toolbar icons two diff-erent states should be more readily noticable. More contrast in the icon, or something.
