Well, I do not know whose fault this is, but I am always annoyed if a beta version is announced as "free" on this website and then we discover that the final version costs (in this case a substantial amount of) money. If I would have known that HTMLValidator would cost more than five bucks, I wouldn't have downloaded it in the first place. I guess I have to delete all prefs and caches and redownload XMLNanny, which is not as good as this software, but actually free and remaining so. (The last point is particularly important because the beta versions of HTMLValidator had expiration dates, so they were only free/usuable for a limited amount of time. I think we should be informed about this as early as possible.)
