OK, it's a Java app. That would be nice to have for info berfore download. Java apps are allways to slow in their performance for me, sorry, but I like the idea behind it. To uninstall don't forget the 21MB folder in Application Support..

I tried this for PHP debugging and it was a nightmare even as I followed instructions to the letter. In contrast, Eclipse with PDT just worked instantly for rewarding sessions. One extra star for sharing Xdecode 2 compiled and offering this package. I can't use it currently, but that can change. It's possible this is a good editor for other languages and platforms, but for PHP I won't be recommending this to anyone.

I don't know what happened to this editor. It used to have a good fake of the Mac UI look and feel. Now it looks like its from another planet. Why did they go backwards?

It's worth mentioning that the skin of this app has been redone. The screenshot is not up to date. It's now much better and does not look like a generic java app anymore. However, It's still clunky now and then, and still does not feel like a cocoa app at all.

Just want to point out that though it may have looked like a Java app before it has never been a Java app, it's based on Mozilla which uses mostly C++, Python and JavaScript.

This editor has a built-in terminal but it's not a "real" terminal because it does not work properly with Ada's Get_Immediate command whereby your program can read a key press without hitting Return. I don't know why this is a problem but I've seen it in a number of other programs with a built-in terminal. Yes, I could run in Terminal.app but that is difficult because when one builds a program one does not know if there will be mistakes; if so, the mistakes will be sent to Terminal where clicking on the error does not return you to the offending line in your code. I would be interested to know if the equivalent to Get_Immediate works with C code.

It does not have a built-in terminal, it has a REPL for certain languages.

This editor is simply amazing if you want to develop web apps with html5. Not only is its autocomplete feature really good but it also shows you potential typos and previews of colour-codes. I really enjoy working with it!

I like Komodo but prefer CodeRunner for ease of use and for the ability to run small programs within CodeRunner (it has an integrated Terminal output window).

Try Textmate and Netbeans, which are both free, and have really nice features. For javaScript and PHP especially, try Netbeans.
