Add iCal calendars to RapidWeaver websites.

Overview

RapidCal is a plugin that links an iCal calendar to a Web page on your RapidWeaver site, offering a monthly calendar that looks very much like iCal's but also like your site's theme. Any change made in iCal to that calendar is instantly reflected in the Web page. The calendar is fully dynamic, there is no need to republish the page.

RapidCal departs from the other calendars available on the internet: it is made for RapidWeaver, it uses your theme's appearance and builds a calendar that actually looks like your Web site. Variable width and user-defined styles are fully supported, as well as localized months and weekdays names. RapidCal is quite simple to use: create the page, publish the calendar in iCal and you are done.

But there is more: to the users of your Web site, RapidCal offers both a webcal link to get a dynamic copy of the calendar within the user's iCal, and even a configurable RSS feed that will notify your site's users of any change in your calendar. And for those interested, RapidCal gives full access to its style sheets, allowing a complete customization of the calendar appearance, paving the way to creatively designed calendars, well integrated in RapidWeaver themes.

Does not work It makes a calnder but does NOT add the entries from iCal. You make an account (webdav) at rapidshare, something like http://server.rapidcal.com/yourname and then set iCal to export to that. If you do, iCal reports that it has succesfully exported your agenda to that adress. However, in rapidweaver (and in your browser) you do get your agenda as set (thus with your own added lines and options etc etc) but all days are empty, your activities and entries are NOT there, just an empty calender. Besides: the server.rapidcal.com is SO VERY SLOW that any interesetd client would give up and would leave your site before it is loaded....

This plugin is no longer supported by the developer. The changes to OSX from Lion have stopped RapidCal from working. Refer the web page: http://www.rapidcal.com/index.html

Sorry, though I like the idea, it's unusable for me because so many events are missing or not displayed correctly. Therefore my clients can't use it. This is so sad, because everything works fine and so easy, just the missing events...

Exactly what I was looking for. It does precisely what it says it will do, takes an iCal calendar from my desktop and places it on a website and works within the existing theme. Considering that the plugin is version 1.0 and it's been out exactly one day, it's pretty impressive. It can only get better with time. Bravo and well done. Another fine addition to the RapidWeaver toolkit.

After e-mails with the maker of this, I now know where things went worong: you have to export the agenda with the SAME name as it has in ical. For .mac you can export an agenda callled 'private' as' Toms agenda' to .mac or webdav. For this plug-in to work it has to be called private as the agenda itself, only then it works. However, the server is SLOW to a crawl, so slow that you think your browser is finished or crashes and the agenda does not seem to load, only after 2 minutes or so...

This is a very nice plugin for RapidWeaver. The developer is currently working on the server to remove a lot of the debug files and apps to speed up the load time. Events work great for me. I am very happy with is new add on. You might want to check the RW Forum for info on the current status of the plugin as the developer is communicating there. See post 95 of this thread http://www.realmacsoftware.com/support/viewtopic.php?pid=89946#p89946
