I think hendo's comment is valid and helpful. Just because it's freeware doesn't mean it shouldn't be criticized. I thought the same thing when I saw this. Why is it so huge? The developer's reply on the other hand isn't helpful at all. He could at least try to explain why. As is, I'm left to assume that it's 10 times larger than needed because he doesn't know what he's doing, or that it contains something other than it's stated purpose.

Dont ask why, RealBasic applications are always massive. I mean, one megabyte should take about one minute to download on a 56k modem. I used a DMG compression format to make it look nice. It comes with two small images, one in the app, one for a background image for the DMG. I included two readme files, one RTF for OS X users, one plain text for OS 9 users. While I did take into consideration the two points which Hendo put across, I dont understand what you mean by 'better'. I assume you are talking about 'better' features. So, you'd rather view your IP and copy it down by hand? Fair enough, I have no problems with that. Like I said before, if you reject the file size, don't download it.

REALBasic eh. Well there's yer problem. I won't bother repeating much of the REALBasic bashing, see the reviews for REALBasic itself http://www.macupdate.com/reviews.php?id=8438 Suffice it to say that it doesn't generate the most elegant and compact application. But as the developer says, if you don't care about that, download it anyway. Maybe it will still do what you want.
