Posterino

14 October 2020

Create posters, collages, calendars, and postcards.

Overview

Posterino offers enhanced customization and flexibility including a variety of new, stylish templates featuring grids of identical or odd-sized image boxes. You can customize the size and shape of these boxes at any time. And with a single click, the application will automatically fill those boxes with random images drawn from the photos you uploaded. If you prefer to manually select images, you can simply drag and drop images into the template.

Sharing your photos is quick and simple as well. You can directly upload your completed collages to your Facebook, Twitter or Flickr account from inside the app, and export photos to iPhoto and your email. Posterino also lets you create and send custom e-cards with your very own stamps and postmarks.

The new features of Posterino 3 are:
  • Improved workflow throughout: Adding, removing or creating image objects now results in an instant re-layout of your document.
  • New and improved content: Expect new templates, new frames, new backgrounds and more. For example, you can now add individual text captions to any image on your document.
  • New layout options: We advanced the existing templates to include a "Circular" option and added Grid Lines to ease manual image placement.
  • Automatic styling: The look of your images can now be changed and aligned automatically.
  • A whole new crop editor: The enhanced version improves crop workflow and creates a persistent crop state.
  • We added a bunch of new sharing services: Post on Facebook, Twitter or Flickr. Send your creation as Message or via AirDrop.
  • A sleek new user interface: The redesigned interface has a larger workspace, especially handy if you are working on a MacBook.
  • Posterino is now sandboxed and supports Retina display.
  • Additional requested improvements: We implemented a large number of popular user requests, resulting in a myriad of large and small improvements in many areas of the application.

What's new in Posterino

Version 3.8.4:
  • Handled a strange hang of the app in situations where an image was dragged over a calendar or text object..

I'm devoted to Posterino. It's many useful features and labor-saving ease of use have allowed me to create pleasing products at the (very) amateur level. Products are simply exported to formats compatible with consumer-level service providers (e.g. Walmart) for same day printing with no fuss, including when using non-typical formats such as 8x20. I have used the software over a number of years, evolving with the periodic updates. Any problems encountered were always a byproduct of my impatience (typically after being away from the software). My questions have always been promptly and professionally addressed.

Buggy as heck! I lock a picture (LOCKED and PLACEMENT LOCKED) and it still can move around. I click on a picture and sometimes it disappears or bumps to another area - even though it is LOCKED. I save the file constantly so as not to lose work done and sometimes when reopening the boxes are in place but some images are missing. I have never seen a program so buggy and almost unusable. I’ve had to start over many times to do a collage because of images moving or disappearing. This program has been around for so long (not new), why is it performing so badly like this?

Posterino 3.4.3 is still the latest stable release. In March of this year there was a 3.4.4. beta release, and since April 8, 2019 there is a 3.4.5 beta available. Info from the developer here:

I have used Posterino for years now, have also given it is a gift to family members after they commented on how much they liked the work I produced with it. I have other Apps that do similar things but never use them, always prefer Posterino. The updates are always easy to install and the support is very good and very personal and friendly.

Posterino is my go-to collage app. I have created some nice-looking posters and some photo collages of my grandchildren that I have had made into prints and framed and given as gifts. There are a lot of options and many templates are supplied. Updates are reasonable. Excellent support from the developer. I am using version 3.4.3.

"Posterino 3.4.3 12 Mar 2019". What downloads is Posterino_v3.4.3.zip for sure, but the Posterino.app version 3.4.3 that comes out of the ZIP has been available since 18 May 2018. The same version downloads from http://www.zykloid.com/posterino — so why is it promoted here as new, almost ten months later?

I've used Posterino through many versions and have always been very happy with its ease of use, flexibility and capabilities. Works great with many image types and allows you to build beautiful photo designs. It has been great over the years and I use it for my professional work and personal designs.

An invaluable tool for anyone who wants to produce great looking postcards and posters composed of multiple photos with ease. Posterino includes slick looking templates and it is just a matter of dropping the images in the frames, re-size/rotate/re-align to taste, input text (on some templates) and export either to file, Mail or print (there are more output options but I have not used them). The interface is intuitive and technical support superb.

I’ve tried multiple photo collage apps, but this is my favorite app: simple but very effective user interface. Automatic layouts work great but lots of manual control possible too to create very stylish collages in any size you want. Also, the developer responds very quickly if you have any questions or suggestions! Recommended!

I discovered Posterino many years back, 2007 I think, and while I only use it once a year, to me, it is the most important software I own. You see, like all of us, I wanted a way to make use of all the pictures I took with my digital camera (and now cell phone) but that never seemed to go any further than my hard drive. I used a template from that first release to create what I call our "Year in Review" poster. I have created one for every year since then. I print it out in 24" x 36" size, put it in a frame and hang it prominently in our home so that for a whole year we can smile over all the wonderful memories we made as a family the year before. (They are wonderful talking pieces and everyone that visits our home is fascinated by them and asks me how I created them.) When the year ends, I create a new poster to replace it with, remove the previous poster, turn it over and write the details of where each image was taken and archive it so that years from now, when I'm gone, my kids will have frameable memories of their childhoods. These posters simply mean the world to me!

This is an excellent product for both beginners and experienced graphic designers. If you are a beginner, it is very user-friendly and efficient; it is possible to make stunning posters very quickly and easily. If you are a more advanced user, Posterino can simply become part of your workflow. I make yearbook pages for high schools and have always used Posterino to set my templates first before moving them into Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. It is very easy to edit the Postino document to be unusual sizes (accounting for page bleeds, etc.) and then to edit the frames and pictures to fit well. I typically export the files into Illustrator to finish up (adding titles, backgrounds, etc.) Posterino is a huge time-saver for me. This week, I needed 8 equally-sized landscape pictures of sports teams; after much mathematical frustration, I simply jumped into Posterino, made up a quick template, and then was good to go. Posterino is one of those rare programmes that is necessary to my regular workflow - I can't imagine being without it.

I like your new release very much. I'd like more templates tought, Some with ruf edges like a fotoglassplate. You know photography from the old days: vintage. But this software is grand. Thats is so good about you program Posterino; the frames are well balanced. You can easily overdo it as I did with other programs.

Great Program for our needs. We use the program to make a collage of event and then send them out across the web via a range of mediums. The feature we love the most is Posterino's to allow the user to select large format such as A3 and bigger. It also allow us to save the collage in pdf format. Some time we then import the finished file into Adobe InDesign for adding special effects and text.

Great application for creating nice products with your photo's and images. I use this app also to create moodboards for photoshoots. I discuss the moodboards with the client, using images i found on the web or with my own images. It is nice to see how the moodboard matches the final results. I use Posterino also to create some kind of Contactsheet with the best photo's from the shoot. That way, the client gets a perfect overview of the results, in an appealing way.

I am sure that it is taking a great deal of time to continue to make these updates, but as a person who uses Posterino I really do appreciate it. If you have time to think back to when you first released Posterino and compare it to what your program is currently doing I think you will agree that there really is no comparison. The early release was good and did make good posters, but the current version can do SO much more. Keep up the good work.

Not A Review In reading the reviews I don't see any problems that have popped up in the program. I assume the problems I am having with Posterino are caused by me. I need help. Here what is happening for me. 1- When I create a poster it looks fine on the screen. When I try to export it to the desktop as a tiff or jpeg at least one of the pictures in the poster will rotate 90 degrees making the poster un-usable. 2- I tried to export to Aperture, to print the poster and at least one of the pictures rotated. 3- This behavior is constant. On each export at least one of the pictures rotates. 4- I have been eMailing tech support but I have received no answers so far. Quickly became one of my favourite creative software. I got it for making customized calendars/collages for friends and family as presents. Posterino is just perfect for that, easy to use and the results are stunning despite the little effort. It might seem expensive first but it's worth every penny. I tried Powerpoint as well as free software from the internet but the results were never even close as good as with Posterino. Top value for money.

As a pro photographer I've tried various collage software/apps. Posterino is out on its own in terms of templates and versatility. The customer service from Zykloid is exceptional and I highly recommend Posterino. I have used a lot of digital photography / graphic programs and found most of them to be disappointing - either too limited or too complex. Posterino is the perfect blend of power and ease of use for my students and I to be productive. Plus it's fun! I despaired of finding a collage creation program that would work on my Macbook OS X 10.5.8 until I found Posterino. Luckily, the folks at Zykloid keep their older versions available for trial and purchase - and quickly answered my questions.

This is a great piece of software. It's powerful yet easy to use, and enables a new dimension of photographic enjoyment. I recently returned from a three-week Baltic vacation with many hundreds of photos. I wanted to quickly share the experience with friends, so I fired up Posterino and let it auto-fill a big poster with 100 photos (imported from iPhoto). I deleted a few inappropriate images, dragged several shots around to achieve a balanced look, reframed a few others, added a title, saved my creation as a PDF, and sent it off to my friends (via Dropbox). The entire production took maybe 15 minutes. I'm very pleased with Posterino, and recommend it to anyone with lots of photos to exhibit to friends & family.

I liked that it would arbitrarily assign pix to the various frames. More than once if wanted. I liked that I could drag any pic to any frame to revise. Then I really liked when I found I could delete a problem frame and *easily* resize the frames around it to preserve design integrity. The only thing I haven't discovered yet (could be missing; could be me) is the capability of giving different croppings to the pix. Move l-r/up-down and zoom in/out. So I go back to the pic file and edit there. If I recall, Posterino either auto reflects my changes or I drag the photo in again. Either way, it's not hard. I'm *fond* of this app. And my church likes the collage I made.

I have been using the previous version of this application for a few years now to create 'email' greeting cards and desktop backgrounds of vacation/family shots. I didn't bother upgrading to Posterino 2 after it came out since the version I was using met all my needs. But after the last Snow Leopard upgrade, the application stopped working. I provided some feedback (not expecting much since I was using an outdated version of the application) and behold I received feedback the very next day. I had not yet tried the suggested fix that the following day I was given a link to download and test a beta version that fixed the problem. I couldn't be more impressed! a great application with excellent support.

This is a stunningly great app. I've been using it since the early beta days, and have to say that the app has move steadily towards the developer's vision of a polished and useful program (have a look at his web site for the sense of design this guy has). Support is about as fast as it can be, given he's in Europe. The app is everything you expect–hope!–to receive from a small guy doing quality and inspired work. Every year I use it to make posters for our Earth Day celebration. I also make posters for our trips overseas, and I send postcards. It's just the ticket.

I just purchased Posterino. There is an on-line manual now that truly helps the new user. The Posterino e-mail support is beyond excellent. This program allows one to create a first class collage with a great variety of ways to tweak sizes and style.I like the fact that is just collage with photos-for those of us who don't want the cute shapes and clip art. Worth the cost., hoping for an iPad app soon. It would offer the opportunity to send more than one photo at a time from the Gallery, especially while traveling.

I recommend this software to anyone I know with a digital camera. I have many Posterino created prints and posters around my house and given as gifts. Love the new layouts and layout mode in version 2.0. Allows for easy paper size customization and photo layout on anything from poster size (20x30 & up) down to postcard sizes. Developer is responsive to bug reports and feature requests as well. When I first bought this software I created a year poster with 84 photos in it. I have since created a wall of year by year posters that kids and adults look at every time they are over (looking for themselves or their kids!). Have also created photo posters for weddings, anniversaries, loads of gifts for friends and relatives, and even used it for a few quick school projects for the kids.

Excellent program! Version 2 adds new templates and options for customizing templates. I recently made a poster with 92 photos, sized 70x100cm at 300dpi, Posterino created the 170mb file flawlessly. This high resolution shows all the details in even these small photos (this is not possible with most poster software). What I especially like is the ability to quickly create your own template, ease of filling/adjusting the poster with photos (even random fill is possible) and the possibility to quickly crop every photo. It's not a program I use every day, but once in a while, when you need a special gift or print, posterino does the job! It saves me a lot of time compared to other products and the results have never disappointed me nor friends or family.

This program is amazing! Easy to use. The results are great. I just made a 20 x 30 and an 8 x 12 poster for a special birthday party. They printed excellently. When I had a question, the developer responded immediately. There is something you should be aware of when printing. I uploaded the picture to be printed, but the site I used informed me the poster would not print well because there were not enough pixels for the big size and that the file was 1 MB. Since the poster was actually 9 MB and was 4000 x 6000, I realized that what had gotten uploaded was the preview image of the poster. I searched around the site and found another way to upload it. That time I saw that 9 MB had been uploaded so I ok'd the printing. And as I said before, the results were beautiful. (used with Snow Leopard)

I absolutely love this app. Recently I created a website for a mailing list's longtime anniversary and members sent in photos of themselves that I made into a poster to upload to the web. It was easy enough to change the size of the allotted squares to fit group pictures, ie customise the templates offered. Once the poster was created, I took screenshots that I then combined to make banners for the webpages. Everyone was impressed with the results. I purchased the app as part of a bundle, which is the main reason I purchased the bundle. I may not use the app on a daily basis but that doesn't take away from my enthusiasm.

This program is useless. It is not user friendly and I found it really hard to change background colors. Moreover, there are very few templates for posters. The worse thing of all though is you can't print the posters yourself. You have to send them off. I tried to print the posters through Preview and through i-photo but neither worked. What a waste of money and time.

I bought this waaaaaaay back, and my registration ran out. Great app, but one thing that bugs me...the dev could make it much more successful if they made it web-based. I use it now but only on occasion. I can see most users buying what it can offer on the same basis, but only as a novelty item. As a permanent app, no. The average user can't make much of it that way. But I wish the devs would expand it...it is such a great concept if they sold what it can do on a per service basis it would be better. This isn't a negative criticism! It really is a good idea..., but needs to be expanded (access-wise) without the associated cost.

I haven't used Posterino, but for the people wanting to use either Posterino or PostCard solely as an iCards alternative, there is PopCard.me: . It does almost everything iCards used to do and be. It offers a simple web interface where you can select standard pictures to make your own greeting card, the text on which will be nicely anti-aliased. When sent, the receiver only gets a JPEG of the card you sent, just like iCards. There's one difference, however, which makes PopCard.me even better than iCards: it's connected to flickr, meaning you can make a card from ANY flickr photo. Very nice. I found the service a little while ago, while searching for good iCards alternatives (well, not alternatives, iCards is long dead).

After using Posterino a few years I still think it is great. Don't hesitate to try it. I have a few programs that I think are really innovative and this is one of them.

I am interested in this app, but here is no way to utilize the neat postmark watermark feature unless you use their postcard service. Too bad as I would like to see on the other means of exporting.

Seems ridiculous to charge for electonic postcards. Do yourself a favor and spend $5 on 'Postcard' and make as many Apple iCard-like postcards as you like.

Seriously underrated, I think, and should be part of iLife. I use it all the time and feel 5 stars doesn't do it justice - it really is that good. So here, another 5 stars, both for the developer and the software!

Truly an excellent piece of software. The developer is incredibly responsive, responding to a bug report the same day and after a brief discourse, produced a beta update that resolved the problem the next morning. The current version of the software is fast, easy, has added significant features that make it easier and more enjoyable to use and creates output files very quickly. It is a great tool which I use to convey large amounts of visual information quickly and easily to a very high standard of quality and consistency. I look forward to future iterations. Thank you for a great product which paid for itself the first time I used it.

I used to like the .Mac ability to send electronic postcards, but was frustrated that I couldn't make up my own ones without remaining a member (and it just wasn't worth it for the features). So I was very pleased to find Posterino and see the flexibility it offered. Of course, it does life posters and photo frames too. The supplied designs are very nice indeed, but you can design your own or change the shipped versions. The scaling and moving of photos works very well too. The program integrates with Aperture as well as iPhoto and Entourage (or other e-mail programs) as well as Apple Mail.

Developer contacted me and was able to send license via alternate email. Happy ending to a frustrating experience. Still love the program!

Loved the beta. Purchased the final version (1.0), but never received my license to activate it. Contacted the company at least 8 times -- with NO RESPONSE. Use extreme caution!

This is one of my favorite programs. I use it to make posters for my customers and give them away to them as gifts.

This is one of the top quality software out there. I do photo editing and large size printing everyday. Tested almost every application available out there. This software gives me the poster quality almost unbeatable by PhotoZoom Pro. The introduction price is only 25% of the PhotoZoom Pro 2. SizeFixer is too expensive for most people even they claimed that they are the best in the market. Posterino gives me the extreme acceptable poster size up to 20" X 30" with 200 dpi with very minimal loss in quality from a small 5" X 7" at 72 dpi file. I am impressed. The developer already claimed that the stable update version will be a free update. That's plus. I like the developer who responds to my email extremely fast. This software is the ice breaker to those who do alot of enlargements or large format printings. Do a test run yourself! But don't forget this is only a Beta version and I'm sure the developer will fix whatever the bugs are.
