My favorite hex editor to simply view/change so,mething quick. And its free too also I would have paid a small amount for this great tool.
To the developer: You might consider to add a donate button to your webpage or add something small as a pro version for a few $. Would love to support this great simple app.
There is a new version (1.1.4) available on the website and it works well with El Capitan: you can see the highlight on selected text and hex. Thank you Suavetech !
Possibly the best hex editor on the Mac platform. Small, simple, free, and full of features. If you need a hex editor look no further. Great bit of kit.
This is the last of 31 updates of 227 installed with MacUpdate Desktop 6 and the downloaded version is the same as what's installed "0xED 1.1.3".
This update still shows in MU6.
Downloads from developer are also "0xED 1.1.3".
MU6 is looking for "1.1.3".
Can this be fixed?
Thanks ... Ken
1.1.1 appears to have corrected the complaint I had for 1.1.0 (i.e., editing hex bytes) so I am posting this as a separate review to somewhat"neutralize" my previous low rating with a higher one.
I would be nice if the hex and text search boxes were longer and on separate lines or toggled (like old Resorcerer) and also had a equally long replace (optionally "all") box (also like Resorcerer).
1.1.0 is useless as a hex editor. For example in earlier versions (I have 1.0.10) I could, say, select a byte in the hex display and copy/paste "12" from a text file into the hex display. This latest version ends up clobbering two bytes with the ASCII value of the byte I want to change, i.e., 0x3132. This makes it impossible to write down a desired hex sequence and copy/paste into the hex display. As I said 1.0.10 did it the expected way. So I recommend sticking to that version.
It's fast, it's easy, it's free. I don't normally use this program for commercial purposes, however is occasionally useful at work to view unknown filetypes or damaged files that are sent to me.
The best OSX hex editor available. Not full of features (even when I wouldn't use most of them in the real world), but fast and reliable.
Would love to hear if any plugin exist!
I like this app a lot, but the one thing that's keeping me from using it is the fact that it lacks (as far as I can tell) any means of authentication for editing files with strict permissions. Do you have any plans do this (like, a SFAuthorizationView in the toolbar or something) that would allow users to edit system files, etc?
Thanks,
Geoff
PS I tried to use the feedback forms on your website, but the "connection refused".
I was using HexEditor before but this tools is far better . Congratulations to the author. (the only criticism should be the choice of the icon cut, copy, paste and save who is little bit to much Windows like for an old mac user lile me :-) )
How would you rate 0xED app?
