Savvy Clipboard overview

Savvy Clipboard is a really handy and non-intrusive clipboard manager for OS X with a lot of additional capabilities speeding up your workflow. It will hold a list of items that you copied - text fragments, graphics, URLs, multimedia data, or links to files - and let you access them using this list. You just select the needed item from the list and it is ready to use from the system clipboard, so you can paste it anywhere you need.

You can label your items with brief notes, edit clipboard text items (in the registered copy of the program), send emails, and store your passwords in a handy way. And if you want to use some items frequently, you can "lock" them in the topmost positions in the list, and use handy shortcuts to access them. The wide export (and printing) capabilities add convenience to using Savvy Clipboard for various purposes. Moreover, it's now easy to backup the entire list of your clippings, or even move it to another computer as needed!

With Savvy Clipboard, you speed up your work (no need to look for items again and again) and gain a new level of control over things you work with.

Never used it, but out of curiosity and some nice comments here I made a visit to the developer's website in case there is an update. Unfortunately no. But I gave it a try. It works well on Monterey. Concept is similar to iClip and Pasta. I like Pasta because you can clearly see all your copied items in frames. Very convenient. Savvy Clipboard uses much smaller windows, but lets you edit the content, and few more nice features. The only problem will it be updated ? So asked the developer. If I get any answer I'll post it here.

Version 2.9 is available on developer's website. Works like a charm on Mavericks and on Yosemite.

Doesn't save anything in Mavericks - still loads at start and holds saved previously under Mountain Lion clips, but you can't add any new clips to it.

This app is not updated very often, but I don't suppose it needs to be. I still use it every single day and have established a very streamlined working relationship with it. I don't want to use any other clipboard app (I have tried most of them already), but I'm wondering about Snow Leopard support. Says nothing about it on the developer's website, and it's not listed at the Snow Leopard compatibility wiki. I'm holding off installing Snow Leopard till I know my apps are all going to work. I just wonder if I need to be demoing other clipboard apps again.

I bought Savvy Clipboard in March 2008 and I use it every day, and I love it. But, I could love it even more if it included a couple more features. When I bought it, I mentioned these to the developer, and he said they were definitely planning on adding one in the future, and he would think about adding the other. Well, there have been two updates since then and I'm disappointed that the most important feature (to me) hasn't been added yet, and that is: strip the carrots, forced returns, junk from emails when copying and pasting. I'm constantly copying from emails and pasting, and as a result, I still need to open SmartWrap, which I also really like. Please, PLEASE work on adding this feature! This is the other feature I think is important and would like to have added: Be able to double click all entries for a default action. Text should open for editing, URLs should open in browser, emails should open a blank email, images should open in a predefined image editor, etc. If you want to actually edit/change/update any of the entries, THEN right-click or control click what you want to do with them, but there should be a default for double clicking so you can do everything more quickly. If these two features were added, I believe Savvy Clipboard would be perfect for my needs. It is easy and convenient to use. You can copy, copy, copy, copy and then paste, paste, paste, paste -- all so quickly. Sure beats copying in one window and switching to paste, then copying and switching and pasting ... ugh. Copy and paste text, images, emails, passwords; print them; save them; edit them, spellcheck them! Like I say, it's almost perfect. Two more features and my four stars go to five.

Perfect. Simple, efficient and truly useful. Feels like it should be part of OSX anyway. Developer also really on the case. Emailed them about a small compatibility issue with Textexpander - and two days later a new release fixes the issue. Now can't fault the software. Thoroughly recommended.

I've been using Savvy Clipboard for 2 months and have to say it's as simple as it is stable. The only addition I'd like to see is a sliding dock that keeps it out of the way until you roll over a tab, al la DragThing.

Can this have a menu bar item or something? I would like a drop down list from the menu bar instead of a floating pallet. I used to use Koolclip and that feature serve better by small monitor..

Thank you for sharing your opinion! As to the pricing, - some other market offers for cb managers are as much as $15-20. I guess the key selection factor is based on just trying it out for some time and feeling whether it's convenient and suitable for your needs. As to the GUI, it may largely be the matter of taste, 'cause we know that many users like it. But of course we'll take your note into account for the future.

It can be very useful, but I find the GUI a bit ugly (for instance the numbers on the left of the items). Also, $12 seems a bit expensive for a cb manager. Nevertheless, it helps increasing productivity.

Great idea - if it would work as menu item with pull down window, not as an application with permanent window on desktop. I tried it for few days and am not happy with window taking valuable desktop real estate. I will buy it if redesigned as menu item.

This should simply be a basic part of the Mac OS X feature set. Glad to see others are filling the gap. BUT...I hope I see this capability in Leopard.
