Adds a follow up item to emails and contextual menus in Apple Mail.

Overview

The MailFollowUp bundle adds a "Follow Up" item to the Message and contextual menus (and optional toolbar item) of Apple's Mail application that allows you to compose (and then send) a quoted version of the original message to all of the original recipients, keeping the To, CC, and BCC addresses exactly as they appeared in the original message.

what is the difference between this app and the mailbuttler follow up? https://support.mailbutler.io/knowledge-base/set-up-a-follow-up-reminder/ (I think the mail butler is to expensive, since that is the only thing I would like to do)

Excellent! 2.0.1 installs and works for me now! Thank you, Greg, for finding the time to look into the issue some of us were having with 2.0.0.

2.0.1 works for me in Mail 12.2, Mojave 10.14.2. I've missed this, and I'm not bothered by the manual install.

Just installed the new version of MailFollowUp (2.0), which I have been waiting for a long time. However, Mail claims it is not compatible with the current Mail version… The rating is of course for earlier versions which did work very well (although I have always had to do a manual install, even when there was an installer application)

Continues as a daily essential with Mail. Apple "just buy it" from Greg and put into Mall yourselves! Highly recommended. Robfol reviewed on 12 Aug 2012 Such a brilliant idea. I always need to follow-up emails, Greg's Plugin is simple and smart. Greg is also responsive as a developer despite a full-time career elsewhere THanks!

After running the Apple Security Update 2012-004 for Mac OS X 10.6 on OS 10.6.8 I couldn't get the MailFollowup 1.4.4 plugin to successfully load. Solution: Download "MailPluginFix" from here: http://code2k.net/products/mailpluginfix/ and follow described steps to patch any incompatible plugins after a software update.

It's free, it (and Greg's other plug-ins) provides features not available in Mail, it's one of a number of features Apple should have included in Mail 6. That said, I have never been able to install it (under multiple versions of Mail and Mac OS), and one ay or another the Installer really needs to be debugged.

The MailFollowUp Plugin can be made to work with Mountain Lion by adding the appropriate compatibility indicators: - "show package contents" on the MailFollowUp Bundle (e.g. in ~/Library/Mail/Bundles (disabled)) - open the Info.plist file - add the following two String entries to the SupportedPluginCompatibilityUUIDs key array: 608CE00F-4576-4CAD-B362-F3CCB7DE8D67 1146A009-E373-4DB6-AB4D-47E59A7E50FD - save, put the bundle back into the Bundles directory - restart Mail

Normally I would not raise a problem here and I have no desire to sound a negative note. However, since neither myself nor the developer has been able to crack this one I presume to do so now. I am unable to persuade MailFollowup to substitute a string of my choice for the standard "Re:" prefix. Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know a solution? (When it worked properly for me, I had nothing but praise for this plug-in.)

Thanks for the timely update on a great add-on. I'm a long time user. My only criticism would be to simplifying the install. I think offering the back-up is sort of confusing (Personally I never do it) and it unnerves me that a plugin could have such powerful access to my mail database. But, once installed the software is perfect.

A great solution, overall! I find it's great for what I often need to do. I just have a few concerns: Firstly, whenever when I flag an email in my inbox, the "Forward" icon changes into a flag (similar to that of the "flag" icon) from the standard arrow. FYI I'm using the four-icon bar in the toolbar ("Reply", "Reply All", "Follow All", "Forward"). I then changed the toolbar to show the five-icon bar ("Reply", "Reply All", "Follow All", "Follow", "Forward"). This time, whenever I flagged a message, the fourth icon in the bar (i.e. "Follow") changed from its respective arrow to that of the flag. I'm thinking there may be an issue with the flag appearance in the fourth icons of your toolbar options. Secondly, I'm not sure if there is a way to disable the "Follow" and "Follow All" buttons when in the "Inbox" folder (this isn't crucial) but it seems like there's a difference between this and "Reply All" when I try to reply to emails that contain multiple recipients. Finally, just a quick question. Would something similar in nature be available on iPhone? Just wondered, as I'm quite impressed overall with it working on my new Lion MacBook Pro. Cheers, Ian

a couple pointers: make sure to include a "cancel" option for your installer. I kinda like "follow-up" or "follow up" as opposed to "followup", but seeing how there isn't much room for the extra character, it's only minor. nice idea, I like the new toolbar feature, nice icon. Overall it's pretty refined. good job, -lpod

MY RETRACTION: To any further readers about this program: I have discovered that Dr. Welch's program was NOT the offending program causing my MAIL program to crash. He and I have been in contact trying to get his program to run on my machine. It is a work in progress. I feel that an apology from me is in order. If I knew how to retract my comments (and my negative ratings), I surely would. At this time, I am trying to figure out which other add-on is causing the problem, but I am positive it's not MailFollowup. Until then, I must re-rate his program to reflect a much more fairer evaluation. My apologies. KRIS

My Mail application was crashing on and off this week. I couldn't figure out why. Then I installed this version, and it crashed like crazy. I then deleted this whole plugin, and Mail stabilized. What gives? I won't install this again: I lost all my inbox messages (or so I thought) until I snooped around, and found most of them. Kris

My apologies. Version 1.0.1 (just released) should fix the problem. What happened? The plugin was erroneously relying on something in the Mail Act-On plugin, so anyone who did not have that installed, experienced a crash. I actually did have several people help me test the plugin before I released it, but unfortunately all those people had the Mail Act-On plugin installed, and so none experienced the crash. 1.0.1 was also compiled as a universal binary, but not tested on an Intel machine (I don't have one). --Greg Welch (the MailFollowup developer).
