Dates to iCal overview
Dates to iCal is an alternative to Apple's iCal birthday calendar that has a range of features that has made it indispensable for many iCal and Address Book users.
As well as automatically syncing birthday dates from Address Book, Dates to iCal can sync anniversary and custom dates. It can add up to five alarms for each birthday in iCal and the same number for anniversaries. It gives the option of only syncing from one Address Book group. This application also allows for the titles of the events sent to iCal to be modified to the user's preference including the age of the event. It also makes it easy to sync birthdays and anniversaries to an iPhone. Dates to iCal has extra title formatting 'tokens'. and is localized into English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Sadly, another piece of abandonware. MacUpdate should really do a better job in deleting software that's not compatible with latest system versions or for which development has ceased.

I too have tried to contact John via the website with no luck.
I Have been running Dates for iCal 2 for a number of years and through multiple Mac OS Versions. Unlike others the latest version is running successfully under Yosemite on my iMac, but I suspect this is because each iteration of OS has used the App historical information. However the latest version having been installed for the first time on a MacBook running Yosemite does not. The observation I have is that none of the Calendars with various Anniversaries created for use across iCloud work at all. However, the App appears to be partially working in as much the Ordinal date for Birthdays is working on the iCal inbuilt Birthday Calendar. Hope there is a fix soon.

Tried to send you an email John but it would not go through on your website. So here goes:

I have used and paid for your product for years. I just noticed that it is not working with Yosemite or possibly longer. I tried to download the newer version but it is not working. I replaced the old version with the new one. But not sure what to do now. Apparently, once the old version replaced the new version there is no way to get my account no. UGH!

No too sure if this has any benefit for me. It seems to do exactly what the existing software already does for me - i.e. automatically show dates from my address book, and pop up a reminder.
I also get the duplicated dates issue too, and it just makes a mess of my Calendar. I tried it, but see no reason to use it permanently.
