Going to the website to purchase and it says 'this software unavailable'. What's going on. Is this some kind of Russian scam?

Can only speculate. However, they may be preparing for a new version (as version 4 is still not 64bit) or they may be preparing to discontinue it (but find that unlikely), That said, I was able to download the 4.01 update to version 4. You may want to contact them directly.

Just chatted with Software MacKief. They said Version 4.0 not available in the US. How did you get it?

Douglas-2 ... don't know what to tell you. I've used ThePrintShop for so long I can't remember. Bought version 4 back in December 2017. A week or so ago, checked the MacKiev site and saw this 4.0.1 update was available. I downloaded it (the update file is available on the site, but it only updates a previous 4.0 installation) in hopes that it was a 64bit update. It isn't. Have no idea why it is no longer available in the US as a full product.

I just found this on their Facebook page for The Print Shop 4: "The Print Shop 4 is no longer available to purchase except by schools, effective January 1, 2018." No explanation as to why.

I've used The Print Shop for many many years myself and was hoping they would update to 64bit but apparently no. Sad.

PrintShop 3 has been updated to version 3.0.6.1 here: http://www.mackiev.com/support_tps.html. "The update resolves issues with cropped graphics when running OS X 10.10.4, adds support for the Photos app library, and contains a number of other useful improvements requested by users."

Big improvement over The Print Shop 2, much quicker and some nice new features. Still needs work in some areas, however, particularly envelop printing. I think the full price is a bit steep compared to the competition, however. Upgrade price is more in line with competition.

The Print Shop Version 3 is now available to existing customers. I was notified via email. No sign of it yet on their web site, though.

I purchased The Print Shop 3 a few weeks back and have been using it to make a photo collage. Stay away from this for a few more releases - it's a pox-ridden, buggy disaster zone. I'd rate it one star, but MacUpdate doesn't show version 3 yet...

Mmueck .... any particular examples you can point to? (granted, you were probably reviewing v3.0) I just upgraded to v3 (3.0.3) via an email upgrade offer. So far, I have run into no problems and the program seems to run considerably faster than v2 on my C2D (2.53) Mac Mini (8GB RAM) running 10.6.8.

To Zampom: The program directs one to Kiev's website and it says V3.0.0 is the latest version. I received no email update and I've been a registered member since V3.0 came out.

Drsfg ... don't know what to say. Got a number of emails from MacKiev offering an upgrade price to v3. Even though I was happy with v2, decided to get the upgrade. Last day for the upgrade price was 9 March. Paid for the upgrade, received the download link and the downloaded version of The Print Shop 3 was 3.0.3. You may want to email them directly at printshop@mackiev.com (not the info@mackiev.com email address) to inquire about this version.

I got my email notification OK, and I upgraded just to play with the cool tool that lets you create a circle of text, or a spiral of text. Then, if you use screen capture software like SnapZ Pro while you drag one of the handles, you can create an animated movie of your text coming into being and spiraling around as it settles on your screen. I detected no bugs there, unless you call text flying into your screen a bunch of insect characters going mad as they circle around. Find an animation tool that can create a unique LOGO like that for the price of an upgrade!

I tried to create a simple collage which involved importing several jpegs, cropping them as a polygon, editing the polygon boundary, resizing the images and moving them around. Cropping the image was problematic - no usual helpers like holding down the shift key to get orthogonal lines. Editing the polygon points was awful - sometimes it would create a new point instead of moving the point you clicked on (no ability to selectively edit, create or delete points). The color of the image would change noticeably depending on the image format you imported. Resizing an image horribly messed with the color and saturation - I ended up having to do that in another package and importing the finished image into PS3. Oh yea, it was crash city during all of this too. I thought this was a seriously disgusting experience.

This program is long in the tooth. Runs like molasses on 10.8 and the company's only response is to run a utility that worked for a day, then back to the spinning beach ball. Add to that that the last update was over a year ago (never mind a basic feature in this day and age being MIA - export to HTML), I am getting the feeling that there is no love left for the program. It was really good for a while. Time to look for a new alternative.

It would probably be a good idea to read reviews posted elsewhere, such as at Amazon.com, before putting money into this product. The few reviews here might not give you a true picture of what you're getting into.

This latest update will not update the version I have so I sent a request to the dev for help. The dev answered me back that it works fine for him and that I should check to make sure I have a complete download. My Mac is a PPC so I suspect that this updater is tweaked too much for the Intel Macs. The previous version still works great and while it is older software it still a lot of fun.
