Soundstream overview
Soundstream is a Mac OS X screensaver created with Quartz Composer. It consists of a randomly moving particle generator (reminiscent of Flurry) that reacts to the sound level and pitch picked up by your computer's microphone.
Soundstream looks great as a replacement to the iTunes visualizer, pulsing appropriately to the music.
Also works without a microphone or using the Line In version available on the FAQ page.

This is my favorite screen saver, by far. It is configurable enough, beautiful AND interactive (“aware”, with some imagination...); and it kicks in as an iTunes visualiser as a bonus. I could not ask for more in terms of features and function.
Unfortunately I have noticed that in my OS 10.11.5 the settings for the screen saver open as a blank window, so I am left to either contend with the default settings or open the Quartz file in TextWrangler or some HEX editor and set the plist values there, based on recollection or experimentation.
I have tried to simply copy a preference file for Soundstream, created in a previous OS, but this time it did not accept the custom settings. Fortunately, TextWrangler formats the plist section within the Quartz file nicely so settings are pretty much recognisable.
Whether or not the developer may address this issue in a later release I am still silly happy with its beauty and responsiveness to surrounding sound sources.
