Dashboard KickStart

3.3
04 January 2014

Eliminates long Dashboard startup sequence (was Dashboard Start).

Overview

With Dashboard KickStart (formerly Dashboard Start), you'll always have the Dashboard ready to use the first time you want. Without it you'll have to wait for a complete Dashboard start-up sequence as soon as you are ready use it for a first time, making its quick accessibility rather useless.

This application runs in the background and reacts to the starting or re-starting of the Dock and to waking up from sleep mode. When that happens it initiates the starting of the Dashboard.

What's new in Dashboard KickStart

Version 3.3:
  • Added support for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and OS X 10.9 Mavericks
  • Fixed setting login item, auto start at start up
  • Fixed persistence of 'Activate after sleep' setting
  • Fixed activation when not using the Dashboard as a space
Note: Version 3.3 of Dashboard KickStart now requires a Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor, running OS X 10.8 or higher.

The dashboard remains open after a kickstart - I thought it was supposed to open and then close the dashboard. And the option to activate after sleep is not stable. Also - the developer is not responsive!

On my it does not get along well with Mission Control either. When using hot corners or hovering over the dock it will suddenly and randomly do its thing. It was so annoying I finally removed it.

Great solution. I don't have an issue being a System Pref either. It's free. Stop complaining.

A shame the author chose to make this a Preference Pane in version 3-- it adds clutter to an already crowded screen, rather than just giving me a simple app that I can have run on login. I'll stick to v2 for now, thanks....
