I use the free program Alarm Clock 2, and it plays MP3 songs to wake you up as well as the alarm. It also wakes-up from sleep when you need it to work. Will this small alarm work the same as the other?

This is a really handy little utility. I have been using it for years, and just upgraded. I have also found the developers really responsive. All in all, I am happy to do business with them.

A very helpful and sophisticated app for the price. The first copy I downloaded would not remember I selected "open at login" but a re-download fixed that quickly. The options are pretty amazing. There are quick alarms for selected time periods or repeating alarms daily, or on specific dates and times and a wide range of choices for alert sounds including recording your own voice.

I loved the previous version of this software - as one reviewer wrote, it was one click, in the menu bar, and that's it. Now, it's fill out a form with several entries. It's easier to take out an egg timer now.

Does not work in El Capitan 10.11.1. Just paid $7. I hope they refund my money. Thanks ... Ken

Seems like a 10.7 requiring app to me. (The website oddly actually says 10.5+). It appears to call for something that just doesn't exist on 10.6 and thus won't work. Disappointing, misleading inaccuracy. (If I'm wrong on this, let's hear it).

Excellent concept. The killer feature is the speed and convenience of setting timer. It's one click in the menu bar. The big bug I've noticed is that the "exact" timer is not exact. It rounds-off minutes to nearest whole minute. So, if you start timing "1 minute exactly" from 11h59:59, the timer rounds off the starting time to 11h59:00. Timer goes off a second later at 12h00:00 instead of 12h00:59! • Timer starts from the moment you select the duration. After you select the duration a dialogue box pops up to allow you to name the timer. Clicking OK on this dialogue does not start the timer; its already started. Solution to this could be that the clock could animate for 2seconds after the time has been set to make it clear that timer is running. Takes a bit of getting used to the quirks of the app, but still nice to use.

As a practitioner of the Pomodoro technique, I've always have a timer running through the day. This little app is perfect for it: simple, unobtrusive, quick, and easy.

What a simple and practical interface. It just works as expected. Very useful. No need to rely on my kitchen timer anymore.

This brilliant, small app saves my life every morning. It reminds me not to surf in the internet to long. Very easy to use. Thank you, developer!

Nice little alarm app! I'd love to see a visual alert feature instead of just sounds (no pun intended). I would completely miss the alarm if I had turned my sound down for some reason. Growl integration would be ideal, but even just a popup window would be great.

Switched from this to "Pester" because of bugs. However, "Pester" ends up in the dock with a tiny digital countdown clock icon. TinyAlarm ends up in the menu bar, out of the way, with little analog clock icon that I find easier to read. Now, with the bug fixes, "snooze" and user sounds it is again my favorite. Its is nice little app for short term alarms and is much preferable to clogging up Entourage or iCal with this stuff. Excellent. MacBook Pro w/10.4.11

Pretty sweet little app. Throw in some Growl support that supports a short custom text message and it'll be perfect.

Nice, simple app which does exactly what it says it will, seamlessly. It's raison d'etre is that it is discrete; sitting in the menubar. Yup, there are more dynamic alarms but these, to my knowledge, sit in the Dock or on the desktop, e.g. Minuteur (which is great). It really is a question of intent.

Promising little alarm. Some constructive criticism of it: 1. the maximum number of times the alarm sound can repeat is 5 times a minute. Since this only takes about a second or two, I find this easy to miss. Being able to repeat the alarm continuously would be much more effective to me. 2. The option for a very obvious visual alarm notice would be nice. The change to the icon up top is ok but hard to notice (and not visible at all if one has a lot of stuff already in the bar and then opens an application that takes up much of that space). If I have the volume turned down (which I often do), or was deaf, something that visually demands my attention would be useful. 3. The ability to open an external file would be nice. If I could have this open a song file in, say iTunes, it would be another very useful feature. I am currently considering purchasing Awaken for use as an alarm clock but would be happy to support this application if it were just a bit more useful to me.

This is my first review; I'm only taking the time to write this because it is such a great product! Tinyalarm is simple, flexible, and worry-proof. All-in-all a great product, especially compared to the over-complicated timer/countdown programs I've used over the years. Great work! Thanks tinyalarm programmers; keep it up.
