Mac Help Widget uses PHONE, CHAT (ichat, adium, etc) or EMAIL (Apple Mail, Microsoft Entourage, etc) to get support for Mac OS X and OS X Server. If no one is online to answer your chat, the request can be sent via email with a very prompt response. Service is provided from Mid Atlantic Consulting, Inc. in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

I recently bought an iMac (upgrade from PC!) and found this widget on the Apple web site. It proved its value immediately when, at first, it didn't work, then I got incredibly fast and personal help with straightening that out, plus a quick answer to a minor problem I was having with Entourage. I think it's amazing that lightning fast, free help from wizard consultants is available for issues that are quite small and readily resolved but still troubling for a Mac novitiate.

Great Widget for tech support. I used them and had my issue fixed very quickly. They advised me that they charge for support but since my issue was quick they did not charge. I am keeping this as an in case of emergency widget.

I am not sure why the 2 people who also reviewed this widget said that this is bad, this widget is one of the best I think. It is well done, the design is clean and I have used it many times to get help on things that got me stuck. The company behind this widget is one of the best in the Washington DC area and their widget does exactly what it advertises. Not only do I recommend the widget I recommend their iPhone App and I recommend the company if you are in need of top notch support.

Just used the widget for the first time tonight although I must say we have been using Mid Atlantic Consulting, Inc. for years. I tour with Kenny Chesney and the Mid Atlantic Consultants are known as the guru's to the music industry. I worked in the past with other bands such as Jimmy Buffett, Shania Twain, and others and they have always been there to help us even when we are in another country and have to call in the middle of the night. This widget has made it easier to get the contact info for the correct tech, I consider it my automated address book for mac help. Its not going to do anything on your mac except be there when you need it and your internet is down to give you the support number and extension to call but I call it our insurance policy.

I dont agree. If you are a widget collector then this is not the widget for you. If you need mac support, we have a corporate contract with Mid Atlantic and they have never let us down. We used the old widget until it stopped working sometime in the late Leopard releases. Basically it is a quick address book to contact their staff but until you register and become a client it is useless to you. But I don't think that is a reason to give it a bad review. Again the widget is just to make the contact with the tech. They will use other methods of screen control or even onsite if possible to solve your issues. We are in their service area but do travel a lot and they help us just as well on the road as they do locally.

Thanks for the compliment. This is the developer. I want to be clear as that I am only commenting and not reviewing my own product. If you notice the other reviews were from Version 1.0 and 1.1. We did make some changes in the interface though for some reason the old screenshot is still there as of the 11/12/09. I just tried to reupload it to see what happens.

You are correct. This is a widget for people to get support. We dont charge for quick emails for registered clients but we do charge for extensive support. I have a feeling though if the same reviewers reviewed the new version 2.0 they would feel the same or maybe slightly better because the basic interface is still the same. We just added a few more things to it to make it easier to contact the correct person once you register.

Yep, I agree with prev post. Support is lacking attention, if any at all. GUI stinks, is the dev a designer? I would hope not. Don't bother until this is redone completely

I am a widget fanatic and this is one of the worst I have seen. The design is horrible and more importantly, the fuctionality is pathetic. More customer service attention is needed to back this widget's so called "support". Use Mac's support site or live help through forums because they're sure better than this widget. A new version is indeed needed and hopefully it will fix these problems.

To sign up for service you need to register. Once you register you will be sent a password to unlock the entire widget.
