I used to use this app, and for some unknown reason, it still fails to update my DynDNS accounts since I updated to Mavericks . I switched back to DNSUpdate (shown under “Similar Software” above) which continues to work just fine in Mavericks. Maybe it will be working as expected in mavericks by the time Yosemite is released ;). [Sorry for the snarkiness, but I know people who work at Dyn, and this is not up to their usual level of excellence. I guess they know networking, but not Mac Development?]

Oops, I meant “it fails to update my DynDNS accounts since I updated to Mountain Lion.” Yup, it has been broken that long!

Do we HAVE to see the app in the menubar? I'd really like to hide that if at all possible. My menubar real estate is precious, and while I appreciate the convenience of having the status close by, I'd much rather leave it out of my menubar and simply send me a notification if something is wrong. Most of the time, there aren't any problems - so taking a spot in my menubar is unwarranted...and unwanted.

I wish all apps had options to leave out their menubar item. Not a solution to this, but one to menubar creep if you feel a solution is worth cash: I am on a 13" and I found Bartender helpful to fix this.

For those who cant get it working try: cd ~ rm -rf .dynupdater/ I was able to launch it using this but then when I tried quitting and re-launching it wont start up again. Looks like the daemon is running though.

They are still totally unresponsive, after over a year. I have tried many times. I filed a BBB Report. I've even tried to buy their service, but they simply will not respond at all to emails, won't let me log in to my account even though the free dyn ip stays active on that account because I update it. Completely unacceptable, beware of this company. The Daemon doesn't work after a restart as said before.

Should be known that these people offer NO support if you're using the free updater (I have no idea if they offer it for paid version like they say) and that it's impossible to email them with sales inquiries. They simply will not respond. I have been trying numerous times for over a year. I have tried to go to their forums, confirmed good password via a reset, and it simply blinks back to the login page when trying to log in, using multiple browsers. They will not respond to email at all. I have tried sales@, support@, and they do not respond. The update daemon no longer functions on the Mac when you restart, and there is just NO WAY to contact them. The emails don't get returned, so I know they are getting them. I'm willing to BUY the damn product, but for all practical purposes this is a dead horse for the Mac.

This latest version uses spyware-style tactics to get you to sign up for an "Internet Guide". This changes your DNS server settings, and blocks certain websites. Unacceptable if you ask me. The setting is clearly marked and easy to disable (on startup or from the prefs later on), but this is something I expect on Windows apps. I've uninstalled it and migrated to a different solution...

I would really appreciate knowing the different solution you chose; my domain host doesn't provide a Mac client. Thanks!

Even with this new version, I still get the widget error message "the DynDNS Updater daemon refused a conenction...daemon is not compatible with this version of the DynDNS updater" (Using Snow Leopard). Any suggestions?

Wonderfully done! Works great in 10.5.1 (the client software for no-ip.com doesn't).
