I used to use this app, and for some unknown reason, it still fails to update my DynDNS accounts since I updated to Mavericks . I switched back to DNSUpdate (shown under “Similar Software” above) which continues to work just fine in Mavericks. Maybe it will be working as expected in mavericks by the time Yosemite is released ;). [Sorry for the snarkiness, but I know people who work at Dyn, and this is not up to their usual level of excellence. I guess they know networking, but not Mac Development?]

Do we HAVE to see the app in the menubar? I'd really like to hide that if at all possible. My menubar real estate is precious, and while I appreciate the convenience of having the status close by, I'd much rather leave it out of my menubar and simply send me a notification if something is wrong. Most of the time, there aren't any problems - so taking a spot in my menubar is unwarranted...and unwanted.

For those who cant get it working try: cd ~ rm -rf .dynupdater/ I was able to launch it using this but then when I tried quitting and re-launching it wont start up again. Looks like the daemon is running though.

They are still totally unresponsive, after over a year. I have tried many times. I filed a BBB Report. I've even tried to buy their service, but they simply will not respond at all to emails, won't let me log in to my account even though the free dyn ip stays active on that account because I update it. Completely unacceptable, beware of this company. The Daemon doesn't work after a restart as said before.

Should be known that these people offer NO support if you're using the free updater (I have no idea if they offer it for paid version like they say) and that it's impossible to email them with sales inquiries. They simply will not respond. I have been trying numerous times for over a year. I have tried to go to their forums, confirmed good password via a reset, and it simply blinks back to the login page when trying to log in, using multiple browsers. They will not respond to email at all. I have tried sales@, support@, and they do not respond. The update daemon no longer functions on the Mac when you restart, and there is just NO WAY to contact them. The emails don't get returned, so I know they are getting them. I'm willing to BUY the damn product, but for all practical purposes this is a dead horse for the Mac.

This latest version uses spyware-style tactics to get you to sign up for an "Internet Guide". This changes your DNS server settings, and blocks certain websites. Unacceptable if you ask me. The setting is clearly marked and easy to disable (on startup or from the prefs later on), but this is something I expect on Windows apps. I've uninstalled it and migrated to a different solution...

Even with this new version, I still get the widget error message "the DynDNS Updater daemon refused a conenction...daemon is not compatible with this version of the DynDNS updater" (Using Snow Leopard). Any suggestions?

Wonderfully done! Works great in 10.5.1 (the client software for no-ip.com doesn't).

Under "Edit Host," change the Interface value from Default to External. My guess is you are most likely behind a Cable/DSL modem/router and are not having the modem forward it's IP to your machine.

I couldn't get previous versions of this to work and switched to JIP_DYNDNS which has worked fine ever since.

It works under Tiger but with this and with DNSUpdate I get some error about not being able to start up the daemon and I have to do it manually through DynDNSUpdater and enter my password. It was fine in 10.3.9 so I think both are broken.

I'm still using Julien's old DNSUpdate v2.7 and it works perfectly fine with Tiger 10.4.2. I have no idea what you mean with "broke under 10.4". I really don't know why I should replace this fine working tool with a new one that has no rep and offers no benefit.

mmmm its NOT working properly to me.... at boot time, do not refresh new IP with DynDns... old one -DNSUpdate 2.7- works until today.. like a charm. ( For testing porpouses, i remove old "DNSUpdate 2.7" and install a fresh copy of DynDNS ...i try to reinstall this new version, desintalling deamon, erasing ALL files, rebooting... ALL! ... and problems persist!) eMac, 1.25, 10.4.2, 512 RAM

Excellent - this is Julien's old DNSUpdate program (which broke under 10.4), now supported by DynDNS. Obviously, it now only connects to DynDNS, but it can automatically download all of your host data from their servers.
