Marquee is a Dashboard widget that allows you to view the showtimes for your local movie theaters in this gorgeous aqua marquee. Enter your zip code and Marquee will download the showtimes for all of the theaters in your area. Use the left and right arrows to scroll through the theaters to find the one that you want. Then use the up and down arrows to scroll through the movie listings. In order to save room for the other widgets on your desktop, Marquee will only display three movie listings per screen. Showtime data is downloaded each time you enter a zip code, or if it has been more than twelve hours since showtimes were downloaded last.

This is a great widget! Well done for a 1.0 release. Worked perfectly for my remot location in Vermont where many other "movie finders" often fail.
In the future I would like to be able to include/exclude theatres in my area to show in the main marquee; there are some theatres to which I just never go because they are too far. Perhaps alternatively, we could choose how far an area to search.
Overall, very well done. I would almost pay for this.
Bad Widget (so far) - I also experieinced 100% CPU utilization (which will overheat your powerbook) when fetching local listings which takes several minutes, and still high cpu after that. I also had problems rotating the widget to enter my zip code. It eats up around 25-33% processor time even when running in the backround. A very sloppy widget (thus far) that I had to delete. I also had problems deleting the widget, im not sure if that was Apple's fault or the widget's fault.
***If your Sherlock channels are messed up in Tiger and thats your excuse, then quit Sherlock, delete the contents of /Library/Caches/Sherlock/Web Foundation, and then lock that same folder using Finder's "Get Info" to prevent cache corruption from happening again. -Mike
for what it's worth, i'd much prefer a smaller, plainer interface. i just need the data really.
version 1.0.4 pinned my cpu at 100% after loading. even when dashboard was not visible. not a good dashboard citizen. i had to close the widget and delete it.
I didn't try the previous version but it's hard to imagine that the UI was actually even bigger than this...
The functionality is good, but it would be way better if all the extra UI stuff was at least an option (maybe a "minimal UI" checkbox on the flip side pref thing) and if the list extended down so you can see all movies for a particular theater at a time. For now, it's just not very convenient and I'll stick to Fandango and stuff...
I like marquee and would suggest that the author reduce the size of the colorful "Marquee". On my 14" iBook screen it takes up a lot of space.

It's quite ornate, but a very useful widget. Much faster than sherlock. I'm diggin' the retro look.
Feature request: a la TV tracker, click on a title, and you're directed to a movie's QuickTime trailers page--if available. I don't know if that's possible programmatically, but it'd be cool.
This works great - the only option you enter is the zip code, after which it fetches the listings, shown by theater. No complaints there.
However, while the UI is certainly recognizable, it's just too big, especially since only 3 movies are listed per page. Make it tighter and list 5 movies and it'll be ace.
